The Week Of The Sphinx
''La settimana della Sfinge'' (internationally released as ''The Week of the Sphinx'') is a 1990 Italian comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Daniele Luchetti. For her role Margherita Buy was awarded best actress at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Plot Gloria is a young waitress who works in a restaurant, has a passion for puzzles and daydreams; the girl delights, causing the ire of her boss, in posing various riddles to the customers, without however anyone being able to solve them. One day Aeolus arrives for lunch, an antenna player with a reputation as a womanizer, and manages to win Gloria's heart; but Aeolus, allergic to lasting relationships, leaves the girl after only one night together, without even saying goodbye. Daniele Luchetti
Daniele Luchetti (; born 25 July 1960) is an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor. Life and career Luchetti was born in Rome. He debuted as assistant director for Nanni Moretti in ''Bianca'' (1983) and ''The Mass Is Ended'' (1985). Luchetti's first film as director was ''It's Happening Tomorrow'' of 1988, which won a David di Donatello as best debuting film and received a mention in the 1988 Cannes Film Festival. His subsequent work was the successful ''The Yes Man'' (1991), featuring Silvio Orlando as the ghost-writer of a ruthless politician, played by Nanni Moretti. It was seen as a forecast of the Mani Pulite corruption scandal that struck Italy the following year. The film won four David di Donatello awards. Delia Boccardo (born 29 January 1948) is an Italian film, television and stage actress. Life and career Born in Genoa, Boccardo spent her childhood and adolescence in Nervi, then studied at a Swiss college, at the Poggio Imperiale girls' school and, for about three years, at a college in Sussex, England.
