Carmine Gallone
Carmine Gallone (10 September 1885 – 11 March 1973) was an early Italian film director, screenwriter, and film producer, who was also controversial for his works of pro-Fascist propaganda and historical revisionism. Considered one of Italian cinema's leading early directors, he directed over 120 films in his fifty-year career between 1913 and 1963. Life and career Carmine Gallone was born as Carmelo Camillo Gallone on 10 September 1885 in Taggia (in the province of Imperia), but grew up in Naples. His father was Italian, from Sorrento, and his mother was French, from Nice.G. Félix-Henri "Henry" Bataille (4 April 1872, in Nîmes – 2 March 1922, in Rueil-Malmaison) was a French dramatist and poet. His works were popular between 1900 and the start of World War I. Bataille's parents died when he was young. He attended the École des Beaux-Arts and Académie Julian(f ''La Rampe : revue des théâtres, music-halls, concerts, cinématographes'', 1922/ref> to study painting, but started writing when he was 14. Henry wrote plays and poems, but after the success of his second play, ''La Lépreuse'', he became a playwright exclusively. Giselda Lombardi, better known by her screen name Leda Gys (March 10, 1892 – October 2, 1957), was an Italian film actress of the silent era. The poet Carlo Alberto Salustri gave the aspiring actress her new name and introduced her to the film business in 1913.
