The Page recording was issued by Mercury Records as catalog number 71059, (the flip side of " A Poor Man's Roses (or a Rich Man's Gold)") and first reached the Billboard chart on March 6, 1957, lasting 6 weeks and peaking at #43. Other 1957 recordings were made by Eileen Rodgers as Columbia Records catalog number 40850 (which peaked at #64), and by Brook Benton as Epic Records 9199. Shirley Bassey recorded the track at this time whilst in New York City, and it was issued in 1959 on the album ''The Bewitching Miss Bassey''. Eileen Rodgers (July 10, 1930 – July 13, 2003) was an American singer and Broadway performer. Career Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1930, she began her career as a nightclub performer, later singing as lead vocalist with Charlie Spivak's orchestra. She later recorded more than 30 singles and two LPs for Columbia Records, her most successful single being " Miracle of Love" in 1956, which reached number 18 and 24 respectively, on the ''Billboard'' and ''Cash Box'' pop charts. The Bewitching Miss Bassey
''The Bewitching Miss Bassey'' is the second studio album by Welsh singer Shirley Bassey. Consisting of new and previously released material, this was the first album by Bassey to be issued on the 12" Long-playing record format. Tracks were taken from sessions recorded between 1956 and early 1959. All the songs were recorded in the UK with Wally Stott and his Orchestra, with production by Johnny Franz. The only exception was "The Wall" which was recorded in New York with Jimmy Carroll and his orchestra and produced by Mitch Miller. Featuring Bassey's first five hit songs, including Bassey's 1958 number one single " As I Love You" and the huge hit " Kiss Me, Honey Honey, Kiss Me". The album showcases the best of the early career of Shirley Bassey. All the songs were only recorded in mono, no stereo versions are known to exist.
