The Wagon Master
''The Wagon Master'' is a 1929 American Western sound film starring Ken Maynard, directed by Harry Joe Brown, and written by Marion Jackson and Leslie Mason. The film was edited by Fred Allen and the cinematographer was Ted D. McCord. Maynard's character in the film was referred to as "the Rambler." There is a whip fight in this kinetic film. Maynard is believed to have been the first onscreen "Singing Cowboy" in this movie, succeeded by John Wayne as "Singin' Sandy" Saunders in ''Riders of Destiny'' (1933) and Gene Autry after Wayne eventually declined to flourish a dubbed singing voice in future endeavors; Autry "auditioned" for the mantle in the 1934 film ''In Old Santa Fe'' starring Ken Maynard. Harry Joe Brown
Harry Joe Brown (September 22, 1890 – April 28, 1972) was an American film producer, and earlier a theatre and film director. Biography Harry Joe Brown was born in 1890 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a producer, he had a partnership with director Budd Boetticher, actor Randolph Scott and screenwriter Burt Kennedy, which generated a series of five westerns between 1957 and 1960 (''The Tall T, Decision at Sundown, Buchanan Rides Alone, Ride Lonesome, Comanche Station'') via a company he created with Scott which eventually became known as Ranown Pictures Corp. He produced the American debut films of both Errol Flynn in '' Captain Blood'' and Sean Flynn in ''Son of Captain Blood''. Brown earlier directed a number of films, among them '' Knickerbocker Holiday'', '' Sitting Pretty'' and '' Madison Square Garden''. Jack Hanlon
Jack Clem Hanlon (February 15, 1916 – December 13, 2012) was an American child actor known for his role in '' Our Gang'' and silent films. According to ''Variety'', at the time of his death he was the oldest living person to appear in the ''Our Gang'' comedies and likely the last surviving cast member of the Buster Keaton silent classic '' The General''. Hanlon was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and was raised by his grandmother in Culver City, California. He started acting at age 10. His first role was in Buster Keaton's 1926 film, ''The General'', before appearing in two 1927 ''Our Gang/Little Rascals'' silent shorts: '' The Glorious Fourth'' and ''Olympic Games''. He had what was characterized as a breakout performance in the 1929 William Wyler-directed part-talkie '' The Shakedown'', co-starring James Murray and Barbara Kent. Bobby Dunn
Robert P. Dunn (August 28, 1890 – March 24, 1937) was a comic actor who was one of the original Keystone Kops in '' Hoffmeyer's Legacy''. Early years Dunn was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Richard P. and Melissa Dunn, and attended St. Johns Military Academy. He was a world-champion high-diver with Dr. Carver's diving horses. Career Dunn started his film career at Keystone Studios with Mack Sennett and worked as a comedian and stuntman for a variety of other film studios as well. Al Ferguson
Al Ferguson (19 April 1888 – 4 December 1971) was an Irish-born American film actor. Born in County Wexford, Ireland, he appeared in nearly 300 films between 1912 and 1956. Billed as Smoke Ferguson, by 1912 he was making Westerns for Selig Polyscope Company. In the 1920s he was the star, producer, and director for several low-budget Western films. He also appeared in some television Westerns in the 1950s. Ferguson died in Burbank, California. He is interred at Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
