The Vogue Theater
The Vogue Theater is a historic movie theater in downtown Chula Vista, California. It was designed by the Architect Frank Hope Jr. in 1943, and opened on January 19, 1945. The theater is a poured in place concrete building and seats 825. Vogue Theatre
Vogue Theatre is an Art Deco/Art Moderne styled building originally built as a movie house, and currently used as an event venue for the performing arts. Situated on Vancouver’s “ Theatre Row", the building was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1993. History The Vogue Theatre was designed by the architectural firm Kaplan & Sprachman. Construction began in 1940 and was completed in 1941. It was operated by Canadian Odeon Theatres until 1984, then by Cineplex Odeon. A 1998 restoration project brought back the Vogue Theatre’s original appearance, as well as state-of-the-art light and sound systems being installed. In 2010, the property's owner, Gibbons Hospitality Group, announced intentions of converting it to an event space. Roger Allan Hedgecock (born May 2, 1946) is an American politician and conservative talk radio host, who served as 30th mayor of San Diego between May 1983 and December 1985. His show is syndicated by Radio America. Early life Hedgecock was born in Compton, California. When Hedgecock was 10 years old, his family moved to the Loma Portal area of San Diego. His father was unable to work because of illness. The family faced tough times, and the younger Hedgecock worked various jobs in his youth. Since his youth, he has been an avid surfer.
