The Vision (film)
''The Vision'' is a British television film which had its first showing on 9 January 1988 on British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC1. The film was written by William Nicholson and directed by Norman Stone (film director), Norman Stone. It starred Dirk Bogarde, Lee Remick and Helena Bonham Carter. It was episode 1 of the fourth series of Screen Two. Filming locations included The Exchange, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom. The film was the main feature on the front cover of the ''Radio Times'' when it was first shown. Plot A sinister cult uses a new television station to create a new European order. Dirk Bogarde plays a has-been UK TV personality hired to front the organisation but grows uneasy about its aims. At the end of the film, he attempts to warn the television audience about the dangers they face during the station's first transmission. William Nicholson (writer)
William Benedict Nicholson, OBE, FRSL (born 12 January 1948) is a British screenwriter, playwright, and novelist who has been nominated twice for an Oscar. Early life A native of Lewes, Sussex, William Nicholson was raised in a Roman Catholic family in Gloucestershire. By the time he reached his tenth birthday he had decided to become a writer. He was educated at Downside School, Somerset, and Christ's College, Cambridge. Career At the start of his career Nicholson worked for the BBC as a director of documentary films with numerous works to his credit between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s. He gained renown as a novelist and playwright when the first book of his popular '' Wind On Fire'' trilogy won the Blue Peter best book award and the Smarties Gold Award for Best Children's Book. Alan Curtis (British Actor)
Alan Vernon Curtis (30 July 1930 – 18 February 2021) was an English actor and cricket announcer. Life and career Curtis was born in Coulsdon, Surrey in July 1930. He had a long career in the film, television and theatre, which included appearances in four films of cult director Pete Walker. He also served as an announcer for the MCC at Lord's Cricket Ground for 28 years. Curtis lived in Chiswick, where he died in February 2021 aged 90.
