The Vigilante
''The Vigilante'' is a 1947 American Western film serial directed by Wallace Fox. The 33rd serial released by Columbia Pictures, it was based on the comic book cowboy Vigilante, who first appeared in ''Action Comics'', published by DC Comics. It stars Ralph Byrd, well known for his central role in the Dick Tracy serials. It was his last serial appearance. Plot The Vigilante, a masked government agent, is assigned to investigate the case of the "100 Tears of Blood", a cursed string of rare blood-red pearls sought by a gang led by the unknown ''X-1'' that may have been smuggled into the country. Greg Sanders (Sanders at that time, later changed to Saunders in the comics), in his civilian guise as an actor, is filming a western on George Pierce's ranch. A sidekick is a slang expression for a close companion or colleague (not necessarily in fiction) who is, or is generally regarded as, subordinate to the one they accompany. Stuff The Chinatown Kid
Stuff, the Chinatown Kid is a DC Comics fictional character, a sidekick to the original Vigilante. He first appeared in ''Action Comics'' #45 (February 1942). In ''American Comic Book Chronicles: 1940-1944'', Kurt Mitchell and Roy Thomas say that "Stuff the Chinatown Kid was a refreshing change from the usual antiquated stereotypes of Chinese-Americans, since he spoke perfect, albeit slang-filled English and acted like any other red-blooded American kid sidekick". Fictional character biography Jimmy Leong is the grandson of Lin Chou, leader of the White Lotus tong in New York's Chinatown. A cowboy is an animal herder who tends cattle on ranches in North America, traditionally on horseback, and often performs a multitude of other ranch-related tasks. Tiny Brauer
Tiny Brauer (born Harold J. Brauer; June 26, 1909 – March 19, 1990) was an American film actor. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Brauer appeared in over 20 films between 1946 and 1966. Career Brauer is best known for his role as the "heavy" in several Three Stooges short subjects, particularly in '' Three Loan Wolves'', ''Fright Night'', and ''Sing a Song of Six Pants''. Though he made less than a dozen appearances with the slapstick comedy trio, he was one of only two supporting actors who appears on film with all four configurations of the Stooges (i.e. third Stooge played by Curly Howard, Shemp Howard, Joe Besser, and Curly Joe DeRita). Eddie Parker (December 12, 1900 – January 20, 1960) was an American stuntman and actor who appeared in many classic films, mostly westerns and horror films. Some of his more famous films and serials include the 1943 '' "Batman"'' (as Lewis Wilson's stunt double), '' The Crimson Ghost'', ''Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy'' (as the Mummy), and ''Rear Window'' for Alfred Hitchcock as well as many classic Universal horror films. He appeared three times in the early television series, ''Tales of the Texas Rangers'', and also performed stunts for that program. Parker died of a heart attack in 1960. Jack Ingram (actor)
John Samuel Ingram (November 15, 1902 – February 20, 1969) was an American film and television actor. He appeared in many serials and Westerns between 1935 and 1966. Biography Ingram served in the U.S. Army in France. After leaving the military, he gave up plans to study law and instead joined a traveling minstrel show. He acted in stock theater with several companies before going into film. Ingram first appeared on screen in a bit part in ''Westward Ho'' (1935). His first film credit came in the serial ''Zorro Rides Again'' (1937). In addition to acting, Ingram was a stunt man, working with horses and cars in films in the early 1930s. He was born in Frankfort, Illinois, and died in Canoga Park, California, of a heart attack. He was interred in the Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Chatsworth, California.
