''The Verdict'' is a 1925 American silent mystery film directed by Fred Windemere and starring Lou Tellegen, Louise Lorraine, and Gertrude Astor. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Jimmy is tried and convicted of murder based upon circumstantial evidence after the shooting of Ronsard, an admirer of Jimmy's sweetheart Carol. Walter Huntley Long (March 5, 1879 – July 4, 1952) was an American character actor in films from the 1910s. Career Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, Long appeared in nearly 200 films. Long debuted in films in 1909 with Broncho Billy Anderson. He disliked the working conditions for making films, so after that project he returned to acting on stage. He appeared in many D. W. Griffith films, notably ''The Birth of a Nation'' (1915), where he appeared as Gus, an African American, in blackface make-up, and ''Intolerance'' (1916). He also supported Rudolph Valentino in the films '' The Sheik,'' '' Moran of the Lady Letty,'' and '' Blood and Sand.'' George Fawcett
George Fawcett (August 25, 1860 – June 6, 1939) was an American stage and film actor of the silent era. Biography Born in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1860, Fawcett graduated from the University of Virginia. His initial inclination was to be an attorney, but he became a Shakespearean actor instead. Fawcett had his own acting troupe, the Fawcett Stock Company. He appeared on stage in such plays as ''Ghosts'' (1905) with Mary Shaw, ''The Squaw Man'' (1905) with William Faversham, ''The Great John Ganton'' (1909) with an up-and-coming actress Laurette Taylor in the cast, and ''Getting a Polish'' (1910) with actress May Irwin. Fawcett's film debut came in 1915 in ''The Majesty of the Law'', and he appeared in 151 films between 1915 and 1933. He also directed films.
