''The Vanity Pool'' is a lost 1918 American silent film drama directed by Ida May Park and starring Mary MacLaren, Anna Q. Nilsson, and Thomas Holding. The script was based on a short story by Nalbro Bartley that was originally published in ''Young's Magazine''. The film was produced and distributed by Universal Film Manufacturing Company. Thomas Holding
Thomas J. Holding (25 January 1880 – 4 May 1929) was a British-born stage and film actor. Biography Born in England in 1880, Holding possibly had an extensive stage career in his native Britain before arriving in the United States. He was popular in American silent films during the World War I years. His first films were in several features starring the actress Pauline Frederick. Winter Hall
Winter Hall (21 June 1872 – 10 February 1947) was a New Zealand actor of the silent era who later appeared in sound films. He performed in more than 120 films between 1916 and 1938. Prior to that, he had a career as a stage actor in Australia and the United States. In sound films, he was frequently typecast as a clergyman. Biography Hall was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and died in Los Angeles, California. Hall was married to fellow-New Zealander, Katherine Young, a concert pianist. Willis Marks (August 20, 1865, Rochester, Minnesota, United States – December 6, 1952, Los Angeles, California) was an American silent film actor. Biography In 1888, Marks debuted on stage professionally. He acted in Oliver Morosco's stock company for nine years.He went to Hollywood in 1915, and for 20 years he portrayed older men in many films, including '' The Dramatic Life of Abraham Lincoln'' (1924), in which he played William Seward. Marks' career declined after the emergence of sound movies. Marks was married to actress Carroll Marshall. His son, Chandler Marks, was also an actor. Marks' papers are housed at the University of Denver.
