The Valley Of Hate
''The Valley of Hate'' is a 1924 American silent action film directed by Russell Allen and starring Raymond McKee, Helen Ferguson and Earl Metcalfe.Connelly p.427 Synopsis A young man in South Carolina inherits property in a valley he has never visited before. On arriving he is mistaken by the locals for a revenue officer intent on enforcing the Volstead Act on Prohibition. As the whole area lives off the moonshining trade, this prevents problems - particularly when he falls in love with the daughter of the head of the local producers. George Hively
George Hively (September 6, 1889 – March 2, 1950) was a film writer and film editor from 1917 to 1945. Hively was born in Springfield, Missouri and died in Los Angeles, California. Ralph Yearsley
Ralph Yearsley (October 6, 1896 – December 4, 1928) was a British-born character actor who worked in Hollywood films. Early life and education Born in London, England, he was trained in a medical school, but left for the United States to pursue a career in the film industry. Career He made his motion picture debut in 1921 in a secondary but good role in the Goldwyn Pictures silent film comedy '' Pardon My French'' directed by Sidney Olcott. That same year he appeared as Saul "Little Buzzard" Hatburn in ''Tol'able David'', directed by Henry King for Inspiration Pictures. The acclaimed film was voted a Photoplay magazine's medal of honor. Over the next eight years, Yearsley appeared in another twenty films, in secondary or minor roles. One of his more notable roles was in Harold Lloyd's 1927 film ''The Kid Brother''. Helen Lynch
Helen Lynch (April 6, 1900 – March 2, 1965) was an American silent film actress, mainly known for her roles playing gun molls and other morally dubious characters. Biography Lynch was born in 1900 in Billings, Montana, where she was also raised. When she was one year old, her father died, and Lynch was raised along with her sister, Agnes, by their mother, Christian Fraser. When she was 9 years old, the family relocated to Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood, California, which at the time was a small suburb of Los Angeles situated amongst orchards. After working as a film extra, Lynch was chosen as one of thirteen WAMPAS Baby Stars in 1923. During her career, she was mostly cast in comedies, and often portrayed gun molls and other controversial female characters. She acted in a number of films throughout the 1920s and four small roles in the 1930s. It appears she returned one last time to the screen in the 1940 film ''Women Without Names''. Wilfred Van Norman Lucas (January 30, 1871 – December 13, 1940) was a Canadian American stage actor who found success in film as an actor, director, and screenwriter. Early life Lucas was born in Norfolk County, Ontario on January 30, 1871,US Passport Application July 17, 1917 (Wilfred Lucas) most likely in the township of Townsend where at the time his father served as a Wesleyan Methodist minister.
