Alain Quême (), professionally known as Alan Braxe (born 9 July 1971), is a French electronic music artist. Braxe is most widely known for his collaborative work with electronic bassist Fred Falke and Kris Menace, and for being part of the musical trio Stardust. In 2005, he released '' The Upper Cuts'', a collection of his previous released material. He is the cousin of French electronic musician DJ Falcon. Biography Alan Braxe started playing the clarinet and cello at an early age. In the late 1980s, he became a DJ in Paris. He started producing his own dance music using only a mixer, a compressor, and an Emu SP1200. Within a year, Braxe's early demos attracted the attention of Thomas Bangalter, and Braxe's debut single, "Vertigo", was released in 1997 via Bangalter's Roulé label. PIAS Recordings (formerly Play It Again Sam) is a Belgian record label founded in 1983 by Kenny Gates and Michel Lambot. Play It Again Sam expanded along with other European independent labels in the early 1980s. Play It Again Sam's prominent early artists were electronic-rock acts like Front 242, Meat Beat Manifesto and The Young Gods. Justice is a French electronic music duo consisting of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. The duo's label is Ed Banger Records, managed by Pedro Winter. Justice is known for incorporating a strong rock influence into their music and image. The band's debut album ''Cross'' was released in June 2007 to critical acclaim. The album was later nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album and came in at number 15 on Pitchfork's ''Top 50 Albums of 2007'' and number 18 on Blender's "25 Best Albums of 2007" list. Bertrand Lagros de Langeron, known professionally as So Me, is a French graphic designer, animator, director and music producer. He is the art director for Ed Banger Records and also releases his own tracks on that label. He has created videos for DJ Mehdi, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Justice (band), Justice, and MGMT. Frédérick Falke () (born 7 January 1973), known professionally as Fred Falke, is a French house and dance music producer and DJ. Biography Falke started out as a bass player before moving to production work. His first record, a collaboration with Alan Braxe named ''Intro'', which sampled The Jets' 1987 hit " Crush on You", was released in 2000 on Vulture Music. The pair would form a very productive partnership releasing a handful of singles and later making remixes for Goldfrapp, Röyksopp, Kelis, Justice, and others. "Music Sounds Better with You" is the only song by the French house trio Stardust, released on 20 July 1998. It is a dance track built from a guitar riff sampled from the 1981 Chaka Khan song "Fate". Stardust comprised the producer Thomas Bangalter, the DJ Alan Braxe and the vocalist Benjamin Diamond. After the single's release, they disbanded, believing this created "a certain magic and mystery". "Music Sounds Better with You" was initially released on Bangalter's label Roulé, followed by a wider release on Virgin Records, accompanied by a music video directed by Michel Gondry. Shakedown is a Swiss musical project, known internationally for its 2002 hit single, " At Night". By the time they started the group in 1999, Stephan Mandrax and Sebastien Kohler were two brothers who blended their knowledge to form their genre, a modified disco infused house crossed with electro. History The 1980s Stephan 'Mandrax' Kohler, a fan of new wave and punk, made his 1984 DJ debut in a notorious music club called Dolce Vita in Lausanne. While in England he discovered house music, and two years later started to promote illegal parties on his return to Switzerland in order to DJ and play for large crowds, thus pioneering this new sound nationally by playing all over the country and around Europe, especially Paris.
