The Unseen Stream
''The Unseen Stream'' is a progressive classical album by Troy Donockley. This was his first solo outing and was released in 1998. This recording shows Troy as a multi-skilled wood player. His main instrument is the Uilleann Pipes adding also Low Whistles, Electric and Acoustic Guitars, Keys, Cittern and Mandolin, and he has composed most of the tracks. Although a solo recording he includes guests Irish fiddler Nollaig Casey, piano player Neil Drinkwater, his Iona colleagues Joanne Hogg (voice), Terl Bryant (percussion) and Tim Harries (bass), the Emperor String Quartet and Duncan Rayson on the Rochdale Town Hall Organ. The piece draws on Irish Orchestral works, folk, rock, jazz, Scandinavian symphonies and New Age stylistically. The music is mostly expressions of Troy's experience, particularly inspired by natural beauty of the coast. Troy Donockley
Troy Donockley (born 30 May 1964) is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes. Having performed with many artists as a session player, he is most notable as a member of Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, which he has performed with since 2007 and joined as a full-time member in 2013. Early life and career Donockley was born in Workington, Cumberland; his parents were members of a band called Travelling Country. At the age of 16, Troy joined them, playing at many venues in West Cumbria. His father's record collection was broad and gave his son a love of classical, rock, country as well as traditional music. He is a multi-instrumentalist and a master of the Uilleann pipes. His ambition as a teenager was to travel the world as a musician, but he hated "empty pop created by cynical twerps". Denis Blackham
Denis Blackham (born in 1952) is an English music mastering engineer. He began his audio mastering work in 1969 at IBC Studios in London, and later worked for Polygram, RCA, The Master Room, Nimbus Records, Tape One and George Peckham, Porky's. In 1996 he set up his own studio at his home in Surrey, England and when he moved to the Isle of Skye in 2002, he changed the name of his studio to Skye Mastering. In February 2022, Denis and Rose left Skye and relocated to southern Thailand. Denis has mastered recordings by: the Unthanks, Charlie Dore, and many more in his 50 plus years of music mastering. Rochdale Town Hall is a Victorian-era municipal building in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. Gemini Studios
Gemini Studios was an Indian film studio based in Madras, Tamil Nadu. It was launched when S. S. Vasan, a businessman of many ventures (including the ownership of Ananda Vikatan) bought Motion Picture Producers' Combines from Krishnaswamy Subrahmanyam and renamed it. The studio re-opened under the name Gemini. Despite the common beliefs about a lucky racehorse or the astrological sign of his wife, it was the logo Vasan chose that led to the name. Subrahmanyam had shown him a picture of his very young boys, blowing on toy trumpets in the nude. Vasan chose the pose to craft the logo and hence the name Gemini—The Twins. Nigel Fenton Palmer FBA (28 October 1946 – 8 May 2022) was a British Germanist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Oxford. Career Nigel F.
