The Unguarded Hour (1925 Film)
''The Unguarded Hour'' is a 1925 American silent comedy-drama film directed by Lambert Hillyer and starring Milton Sills, Doris Kenyon, and Claude King. The film's sets were designed by the art director Milton Menasco. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, Bryce Gilbert (King), business man, shows his daughter Virginia (Kenyon) the folly of an intended elopement with a youth. She goes to Italy and meets Duke Andrea d'Arona (Sills), a young and handsome man, who is puzzled by her jazzy American ways and doubts her character. Virginia is found with a certain male flirt in her room and misunderstood until it develops that the duke's sister (Cassinelli) has been misled by the male flirt and is listening in another room. The sister kills herself and the tragedy brings the duke and the young American woman to an understanding of their love. Lambert Hillyer
Lambert Harwood Hillyer (July 8, 1893 – July 5, 1969) was an American film director and screenwriter. Biography Lambert Harwood Hillyer was born July 8, 1893, in Tyner, Indiana. His mother was character actress Lydia Knott. A graduate of Drake University, Drake College, he worked as a newspaper reporter and an actor in vaudeville and stock theater. During World War I he began working in motion pictures and became a prolific director and screenwriter, working on many silent-era Westerns by William S. Hart, Buck Jones, Tom Mix and others. Often associated with producer Thomas H. Ince, Hillyer expanded into romantic melodramas and crime films in the 1920s. In 1936 he directed two chillers for Universal Studios, Universal, the science-fiction film ''The Invisible Ray (1936 film), The Invisible Ray'' and the cult horror film ''Dracula's Daughter''. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress.
