Jerry Reed Hubbard (March 20, 1937 – September 1, 2008) was an American singer, guitarist, composer, and songwriter as well as an actor who appeared in more than a dozen films. Critical reception Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic described the album as "highly polished, exquisitely produced country-pop" and "a thoroughly engaging piece of period pop". The album's review in ''Billboard'' praised the hit single "Tupelo Mississippi Flash" and commented favorably on the tracks "Wabash Cannonball", "Hallelujah I Love Her So", " John Henry", and "Remembering". "Guitar Man" is a 1967 song written by Jerry Reed, who took his version of it to number 53 on the Billboard country music charts in 1967. Soon after Reed's single appeared, Elvis Presley recorded the song with Reed playing the guitar part, and it became a minor country and pop hit. Elvis Presley versions According to Peter Guralnick in his two-volume biography of Presley, the singer had been trying unsuccessfully to record the tune, but wasn't happy with the groove. Jerry Kirby Carrigan (September 13, 1943 – June 22, 2019) was an American drummer and record producer. Early in his career he was a member of the original Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and later worked as a session musician in Nashville for over three decades. His style of drumming with a loose, deep-sounding snare drum melded country music with an R&B feel and helped develop a Nashville sound known as "Countrypolitan".
