''The Ultimate Vampire'' (殭屍至尊) is a Hong Kong films of 1991, 1991 comedy horror Cinema of Hong Kong, Hong Kong film directed by Andrew Lau and starring Lam Ching-ying and Chin Siu-ho. It is a spin-off of the 1985 Hong Kong film ''Mr. Vampire'', Lam Ching-ying reprises his role as a Taoist priest. Plot Master Gau's (Lam Ching-ying) village get overtaken by vampires, so Master Gau and his assistants must join forces to rid their village of the vampires. Andrew Lau Wai-keung ( zh, t=劉偉強, born 4 April 1960) is a Hong Kong film director, producer, and cinematographer. Lau began his career in the 1980s and 1990s, serving as a cinematographer to filmmakers such as Ringo Lam, Wong Jing and Wong Kar-wai. In the 1990s, Lau decided to have more creative freedom as a cinematographer by becoming a film director and film producer, producer. Apart from making films in his native Hong Kong, Lau has also made films in China, Korea and the United States. Jiangshi Films
A jiāngshī, also known as a Chinese hopping vampire, is a type of reanimated corpse in Chinese legends and folklore. The characters for "jiāngshī" are read goeng-si in Cantonese, cương thi in Vietnamese, kyonshī in Japanese, and gangsi in Korean. It is also known as phi dip chin in Thai, hantu pocong in Malay, and vampir cina in Indonesia. It is typically depicted as a stiff corpse dressed in Chinese shroud which is sometimes mistaken as official garments from the Qing Dynasty, and it moves around by hopping with its arms outstretched. It kills living creatures to absorb their '' qi'', or "life force", usually at night, while during the day, it rests in a coffin or hides in dark places such as caves. Lam Ching-ying (; born Lam Gun-bo (); 27 December 1947 – 8 November 1997) was a Hong Kong stuntman, actor, and action director. As a practitioner of martial arts Lam starred in a number of notable films that found recognition outside Hong Kong including ''Encounters of the Spooky Kind'', ''The Prodigal Son'' and his best known role in '' Mr. Vampire''.
