The Uglies
''The Uglies'' is an upcoming American science fiction action-fantasy directed by McG, with a script written by Jacob Forman, Vanessa Taylor, and Whit Anderson. The film stars Joey King, who additionally serves as executive producer, in the lead role. Based on the novel ''Uglies'' by Scott Westerfeld, the plot centers around a future post-apocalyptic dystopian society. In development since 2006, before entering a period of development hell, the movie was filmed in 2021. ''The Uglies'' is intended to be released via streaming as a Netflix exclusive. Synopsis The film follows Tally Youngblood, as she prepares to move into the next chapter of her life. John Davis (producer)
John Andrew Davis (born July 20, 1954) is an American film producer and founder of Davis Entertainment. Background Davis was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. He is the son of Barbara Davis (''née'' Levine), a philanthropist, and former 20th Century Fox owner Marvin Davis (1925–2004). His interest in cinema began as a youth when his father purchased the neighborhood film theater, where he sold popcorn and subsequently viewed up to 300 films a year. The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) is a labor union representing film, television, radio, and new media writers. It was formed in 1954 from five organizations representing writers, including the Screen Writers Guild. It has around 20,000 members. History The Screen Writers Guild (SWG) was formed in 1921 by a group of ten screenwriters in Hollywood angered over wage reductions announced by the major film studios. ''Uglies'' is a book series by Scott Westerfeld for young adults. Westerfeld originally intended for ''Uglies'' to be a trilogy.
