The Truth (Australian Band)
The Truth were an Australian funk band, active from 1991 to 1997. The lineup included Nicky Bomba (a.k.a. Nicholas Caruana) on drums, his older brother Michael Caruana on keyboards, Mick Girasole on bass guitar, Tony Kopa on vocals and Geoff Wells on guitars. They released two albums, ''The Truth'' (1994), which peaked in the top 60 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and ''Headspace'' (1997). History 1991–1993: Career beginnings The Truth were formed in Melbourne in 1991 by Nicky Bomba (a.k.a. Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century. It de-emphasizes melody and chord progressions and focuses on a strong rhythmic groove of a bassline played by an electric bassist and a drum part played by a percussionist, often at slower tempos than other popular music. Funk typically consists of a complex percussive groove with rhythm instruments playing interlocking grooves that create a "hypnotic" and "danceable" feel. ARIA Music Awards Of 1995
The Ninth Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) was held on 20 October 1995 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. There had been a 18-month gap since the previous award ceremony which was moved to be "closer to the business end of the music industry's year" and so reflect that year's works. Presenters distributed 28 awards from 1060 eligible submissions. Big winners for the year were Silverchair with five awards and Tina Arena with four, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year – both first time they were won by a female. Black Dogs
''Black Dogs'' is a 1992 novel by the British author Ian McEwan. It concerns the aftermath of the Nazi era in Europe, and how the fall of the Berlin Wall in the late 1980s affected those who once saw Communism as a way forward for society. The main characters travel to France, where they encounter disturbing residues of Nazism still at large in the French countryside. Critical reception was polarized. The Works (Jon Stevens Album)
The Works is an acoustic studio album by Australian singer-songwriter, Jon Stevens. It was released on the Liberation Blue label in November 2005 and features Stevens performing well known Noiseworks songs as well as tracks from his previous studio album ''Ain't No Life for the Faint Hearted'' and a cover of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy". Jon Stevens (born 8 October 1961) is a New Zealand singer, best known for his work with Noiseworks and ''Jesus Christ Superstar''. The John Butler Trio
The John Butler Trio are an Australian Folk music, roots/Rock music, rock band led by guitarist and vocalist John Butler (musician), John Butler, an Australasian Performing Right Association, APRA and ARIA-award-winning musician. They formed in Fremantle in 1998 with Jason McGann on drums, Gavin Shoesmith on bass and John Butler (musician), John Butler on vocals. By 2009, the trio consisted of Butler with Byron Luiters on bass and Nicky Bomba on drums and percussion, the latter being replaced by Grant Gerathy in 2013.
