The Treacle People
''The Treacle People'' is a stop motion animated children's television programme shown on CITV in the United Kingdom from 3 May 1996 to 25 July 1997 and was reran on Channel 4 in the 2000s. It had two series, each with 13 episodes. In a similar vein to other shows by the same writer, the humour worked on two levels for younger and older viewers. It was produced by The London Studios for London Weekend Television (Granada Television produced the second series) and Fire Mountain Productions in association with Link Entertainment. Stop Motion
Stop motion is an animated filmmaking technique in which objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames so that they will appear to exhibit independent motion or change when the series of frames is played back. Any kind of object can thus be animated, but puppets with movable joints (puppet animation) or plasticine figures (''clay animation'' or claymation) are most commonly used. Puppets, models or clay figures built around an armature are used in model animation. Stop motion with live actors is often referred to as pixilation. Stop motion of flat materials such as paper, fabrics or photographs is usually called cutout animation. Jim McManus (actor)
Jim McManus (born 19 May 1940, in Bristol) is a British actor, who has starred in various television, stage and film roles, including ''Tipping the Velvet'', ''Lawless Heart'' and ''Only Fools and Horses''. In the 1970s he appeared in the '' Doctor Who'' serial '' The Invisible Enemy''. He has also starred in the popular television drama '' Heartbeat'' and twice in critically acclaimed drama ''Minder''. Brian Trueman
Brian Trueman (born 16 May 1932) is an English broadcaster, writer and voice actor. He is known mainly for his work with the animation studio Cosgrove Hall. He wrote and/or narrated children's cartoon series, mostly during the 1970s and 1980s. Career Trueman's cartoons were originally shown on ITV, in its CITV programming slot. However, he also presented the BBC's children's film quiz ''Screen Test'', taking over from original host Michael Rodd between 1979 and 1983. Prior to taking up a writing career Brian worked for many years on local programming in the North West, from ''It's Trueman'' to ''Granada Reports''. He also had a stint hosting Granada's film review show, ''Cinema'', taking over from Michael Parkinson. In 1951, in his youth, he appeared on stage for the Urmston Amateur Operatic Society (now the Urmston Musical Theatre) in a production of '' Merrie England'', playing the role of Big Ben.
