The Tourist Company
The Tourist Company (or Tourist Company) is a Canadian, Vancouver-based alternative rock band formed in 2013 by Taylor Swindells. History Tourist Company formed after meeting at summer camp in 2013. After that they teamed up with singer-songwriter Jordan Klassen to produce and record their EP ''Space Race'', which they released in May 2014. In June 2014, the band was accepted into the Peak Performance Project. In November of that year, they won the $50,000 3rd place prize. The band toured and recorded throughout 2015. Their debut single "Shouldn't Believe" was released and sent to radio on September 14, 2015. On April 29, 2016, the group released ''Mercury EP''. The band's second single "Pedestals" was released on August 16, 2016 ahead of their debut record, which was announced for an October 21, 2016 release date in North America. Rah Rah (band)
Rah Rah was an indie rock musical group formed in 2006 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. They toured extensively across North America and Europe. The band released four full-length albums, including 2015's ''Vessels''. After a three-year hiatus, the band played three final live shows in December of 2019 and disbanded. History The group formed as a three piece in 2006 made up of Erin Passmore (drums/vocals), Kyrie Kristmanson (trumpet/guitar/vocals) and Marshall Burns (guitar/vocals). In 2006 they released the ''Songs for Pasquala EP'' independently. That same year the band performed at the Regina Folk Festival as well as Pop Montreal. By 2007 Joel Passmore (formerly of Despistado and Sylvie) had joined the band on bass along with Samra Sahlu on keyboards and Kristina Hedlund on violin. Rifflandia Music Festival
Rifflandia Music Festival is a four-day multi-venue music festival held at the Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, British Columbia. With no fixed date, the festival has occurred in the month-long span between the last weekend of August and the last weekend of September. Rifflandia was first launched on August 29, 2008. In 2019 it was canceled due to "economic instability in the festival market," with the hope of returning in 2020 which did not happen either due to coronavirus. Rifflandia also includes Artlandia, the War Child Lounge, and publishes an annual magazine. Local brewery and sponsor Phillips Brewery also produces a Rifflandia beer, Rifflandabrau, sold around the festival's time. The Reeperbahn () is a street and entertainment district in Hamburg's St. Pauli district, one of the two centres of Hamburg's nightlife (the other being Sternschanze) and also the city's major red-light district. Dragonette
Dragonette is the stage name of Canadian singer-songwriter Martina Sorbara. Originally an electronic music band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 2005, the band consisted of Sorbara with her husband Dan Kurtz as bassist and producer (also in The New Deal) and drummer Joel Stouffer. Dragonette released a self-titled EP in 2005 before being signed to Mercury Records and relocating to London, where they recorded and released their debut studio album, '' Galore'', in August 2007 to moderate critical appreciation. A second studio album, ''Fixin to Thrill'', was released in September 2009. The group's third studio album, '' Bodyparts'', was released in September 2012 and their fourth, ''Royal Blues'', followed in November 2016. The Zolas
The Zolas are a Canadian indie rock band based in Vancouver and are signed to Light Organ Records. The band was formed by duo Zachary Gray (vocals/guitar) and Tom Dobrzanski (piano/keyboards/backing vocals), with various session musicians supporting them live and on record. The group has since expanded, adding Dwight Abell (bass/backing vocals) and Cody Hiles (drums/backing vocals) permanently to their lineup in 2015.
