Trenches is a Christian metal band, formed by Haste the Day vocalist, Jimmy Ryan. The band announced their hiatus in 2010 before getting back together in early 2012. Background Jimmy Ryan, a member of Haste the Day, at the time, decided to depart the band, when they were in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 30, 2005, doing a concert, where he is a native of the city. The group was formed, when Ryan selected Joel David Lauver to be a guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist, Eli Larch Chastain to be a guitarist, Bill Scott to be a bassist, and Phil Hook to be their drummer. Trenches commenced as a musical entity, in 2007, with their first studio album, ''The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole'', that released on September 16, 2008, by Solid State Records. Jimmy Ryan is the original vocalist for the heavy metal bands, Haste the Day, Trenches, and Upheaval. Ryan appears on Zao's ''The Lesser Lights of Heaven'' DVD. He also has a love for riding his bicycle. History Jimmy Ryan formed Upheaval with Brian Allen (Bass), Jeremy King (Drums), Nathan Stambro (Guitars) and Ben Parrish (Guitars) (also in Demiricous) in 1997. The band recorded their debut EP, ''Downfall of the Ascendancy of Man'' in 1997. In 1999, Ryan left the band along with Allen, and were replaced by Drew and Bryan Grimes. In 2002, Ryan joined Christian metal outfit, Haste the Day. He recorded on their first Three release and decided to leave in 2005, being replaced by ex-New Day Awakening vocalist Stephen Keech. A year after leaving Haste the Day, Ryan formed Trenches with Phil Hook, Eli Larch Chastain, Bill Scott, and Joel David Lauver. Ryan Clark (born June 23, 1979) is an American graphic designer and musician who also has performed under the stage name Maven. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the Christian metal band Demon Hunter, which he co-founded with his brother, guitarist Don Clark. He was also the frontman for Christian metalcore band Training for Utopia along with being one of the guitarists for Focal Point. He is featured on Zao's ''The Lesser Lights of Heaven'' DVD and Mark Salomon's Podcast, Never Was. Demon Hunter
Demon Hunter is an American Christian metal band from Seattle, Washington, started in 2000 by brothers Don Clark and Ryan Clark. Although the brothers created the band together, only Ryan remains, since Don left the band to take care of his family. As of early 2010, the band has sold over half a million albums. The band's style is known for combining nu metal sounds and qualities with ones heard in metalcore. The name references historic and folkloric demon hunters. A trench is a type of excavation or in the ground that is generally deeper than it is wide (as opposed to a wider gully, or ditch), and narrow compared with its length (as opposed to a simple hole or pit).
