''The Teeth of the Tiger'' is a 1919 American silent comedy film directed by Chester Withey and written by Roy Somerville based upon a novel of the same name by Maurice Leblanc. The film stars David Powell, Marguerite Courtot, Templar Saxe, Myrtle Stedman, Joseph Herbert, Charles L. MacDonald, and Riley Hatch. The film was released on November 2, 1919, by Paramount Pictures. The film is now lost. Plot Living quietly under the assumed name Paul Sernine, reformed gentleman crook Arsene Lupin is summoned to protect his invalid, wealthy friend Henry Forbes. Despite the watchfulness of Paul and Alexandre Mazeroux, a fellow criminal turned detective, Forbes is murdered. Chester Withey
Chester "Chet" Withey (8 November 1887, Park City, Utah – 6 October 1939, California) was an American silent film actor, director, and screenwriter. He participated in the production in total of some 100 films. Born in Park City, Utah, the son of Chester Henry Withey and Mary E. Anna Lehr (November 17, 1890 – January 22, 1974) was an American silent film and stage actress.''At The Majestic'', ''Sheboygan Press'', May 24, 1916, p. 2 Biography Born in New York City to Austrian immigrant parents, Frank Lehr and Emilie Freisinger, Anna Lehr filmed ''Civilization's Child'' (1916) for Thomas Ince, a Triangle-Kay Bee feature. The screenplay was written by C. Gardner Sullivan. There is a scene in which Russian cavalry charge over her as she lies prostrate on the ground. Lehr's fear was abated somewhat by her belief that horses will not step on people except by accident. She played "Doris Ames" in the silent film ''Grafters'' (1917), which was directed by Allan Dwan. In 1919 Lehr was chosen by David Powell to play in ''Teeth of the Tiger''. She was forced to withdraw due to ptomaine poisoning. The movie was being filmed by Famous Players-Lasky in New York City.
