The Supreme Price
''The Supreme Price'' is a 2014 Nigerian documentary war film directed by Joanna Lipper and co-produced by director herself with Janis Vogel. The film stars Hafsat Abiola herself where she narrates about the women's rights in Nigeria following the annulment of her father's victory in Nigeria's Presidential Election and her mother's assassination by agents of the military dictatorship. The film received critics positive acclaim and screened worldwide. The film won Gucci Tribeca Spotlighting Women Documentary Award and the Best Documentary award at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). The documentary also nominated for the Best Documentary award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards as wellas the Grierson Awards for the Best Historical Documentary. Hafsat Abiola
Hafsat Olaronke Abiola-Costello (born 21 August 1974) in Lagos, is a Nigerian human rights, civil rights and democracy activist, founder of the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND), which seeks to strengthen civil society and promote democracy in Nigeria. She is President of Women In Africa Initiative (WIA), international platform for the economic development and support of African women entrepreneurs. She is also one of the founders of Connected Women Leaders (CWL). Early life and education Abiola-Costello is the eighth child of Nigeria's uninaugurated president-elect, the late Chief Moshood Abiola and late Kudirat Abiola. Her father, Moshood Abiola, was put in prison by the dictator Gen. Sani Abacha for treason after declaring himself president. The elder Abiola later died while in detention in 1998. The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is an annual film festival that takes place in Nigeria. It was founded in 2010 with its Inaugural edition in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. AFRIFF was founded by Chioma Ude a passionate film buff and entrepreneur, The event normally spans through a week and it includes award shows and film training classes. Grierson Awards
The Grierson Awards are awards set up by The Grierson Trust to recognise innovative and exciting documentary films, created to commemorate the life and work of the pioneering Scottish documentary filmmaker John Grierson.
