''The Sun Moon Legend'', also known as ''The Young Moon Legend''(''新月傳奇 'Saan Yuet Chuen Gei.''), is a 1980 Taiwanese film adapted from ''Xinyue Chuanqi'' of Gu Long Xiong Yaohua (7 June 1938 – 21 September 1985), better known by his pen name Gu Long, was a Hong Kong-born Taiwanese novelist, screenwriter, film producer and director. Gu Long
Xiong Yaohua (7 June 1938 – 21 September 1985), better known by his pen name Gu Long, was a Hong Kong-born Taiwanese novelist, screenwriter, film producer and director. A graduate of Cheng Kung Senior High School and Tamkang University, Xiong is best known for writing wuxia novels and serials, which include ''Juedai Shuangjiao'', ''Xiaoli Feidao Series'', '' Chu Liuxiang Series'', '' Lu Xiaofeng Series'' and ''The Eleventh Son''. Some of these works have been adapted into films and television series for numerous times. In the 1980s, he started his own film studio, Bao Sian (寶龍), to produce film adaptations of his works. Life Xiong was born on 7 June 1938 in Hong Kong but his registered identity stated that he was born in 1941. Chu Liuxiang
Chu Liuxiang is the fictional protagonist of the ''wuxia'' novel series ''Chu Liuxiang Series'' by Taiwanese writer Gu Long. His given name "Liuxiang" literally means "lingering fragrance". Nicknamed "Dàoshuài" ("Bandit Chief") or "Xiāngshuài" ("Chief Xiang"), he steals from the rich to help the poor and upholds justice in the ''jianghu'' (martial artists' community). Character description Chu Liuxiang is a martial arts expert whose prowess in ''qinggong'' is one of the best – if not ''the'' best – in the ''jianghu'' (martial artists' community). He wields a metal hand fan as his weapon and uses it only for self-defence. Ling Yun () (born 1941) is a Taiwanese-born actor in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Early life On January 15, 1941, Ling was born in Taiwan as Lin Long-song. Career Ling started his acting career in Taiwan under the alias of Long Song. Lin first appeared in Ah San Ge Chu Ma (aka A Brother-in-law), a 1959 Hokkien language Taiwan film directed by Lin Tuan-Chiu. Ling joined Shaw Brothers in 1964. In 1965, Ling first appeared in Hong Kong film. Ling appeared in Pink Tears, a 1965 Hong Kong Mandarin-language film directed by Chun Kim. In Hong Kong, Ling changed his name to Ling Yun. Ling's last Hong Kong film was Legend of the Bat (aka Clans of Intrigue 2, Bat Island Adventure), a 1978 Hong Kong Cantonese-language film directed by Chor Yuen.
