''The Summoning'' is an isometric-view fantasy role-playing video game developed by Event Horizon Software (later known as DreamForge Intertainment) and published by Strategic Simulations in 1992. Gameplay The sequel to Event Horizon's first game, '' DarkSpyre'', ''The Summoning'' replaced the random-generated dungeons of the previous game with pre-designed levels. The title featured numerous magic items, as well as a spell-casting system utilizing virtual hand gestures. The game also utilized "runes" as a way to magically gain abilities or items. The game had several features typical of dungeon crawls, such as random treasure, weapon and armor options, treasure chests, and the use of a mannequin to visually aid in inventory management. The dungeon in ''The Summoning'' was broken up into separate levels and sections, with different types of monsters (such as undead) and NPCs being found in each. The featured weapon in the game is a large two-handed blade called "Warmonger." ...

DreamForge Intertainment, Inc. was an American computer game developer. History DreamForge was founded as Event Horizon Software, Inc. by the computer game developers Thomas Holmes, Christopher Straka and James Namestka in Greensburg. Until its dissolution the company produced several well-known and awarded computer games, most of them in the genre of role-playing games and strategy video games. After producing several games, the team changed its name to DreamForge Intertainment after learning that its Event Horizon name was shared with a developer of pornographic software. The company was dissolved in 2001 after struggles with its publishers while working on several titles, including the never finished game '' Werewolf: The Apocalypse - The Heart of Gaia'', as well as '' Myst IV'', with the latter being subsequently continued by a different studio. ''Veil of Darkness'' is a horror-action-adventure game for MS-DOS, FM Towns and PC-98, which was developed by Event Horizon Software and published by Strategic Simulations in 1993. Veil of Darkness is a third person, 2D point-and-click adventure game with RPG elements featuring a fixed isometric perspective and a fair share of action-RPG style combat. TSR, Inc. was an American game publishing company, best known as the original publisher of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D''). Its earliest incarnation, Tactical Studies Rules, was founded in October 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Gygax had been unable to find a publisher for ''D&D'', a new type of game he and Dave Arneson were co-developing, so founded the new company with Kaye to self-publish their products.
