''The Suicide Club'' is a 2000 American-Irish film based on the story '' The Suicide Club'' by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was directed by Rachel Samuels. It was from Concorde Anois and was shot in Ireland. Cast *Jonathan Pryce * David Morrissey * Paul Bettany Production Filming began in April 1999 in Limerick. The budget was reportedly IR£1.6 million. Most of Corman's films of the 1990s went straight to video but he wanted this one released theatrically. A mansion in Galway was built for the film especially. New Concorde (NC) is an American Los Angeles, California based film distribution company founded by Roger Corman. NC got its start in 1983 when Corman formed the production and distribution Concorde-New Horizons (CNH) as one of the first production companies to develop and take advantage of video as a distribution tool. Concorde Anois
Concorde Anois was a short lived film production company based in Ireland that operated in the late 1990s. It was an offshoot of Roger Corman's Concorde Pictures. Anois is the Irish language word for 'now'. History Corman was invited to set up operations in Ireland by the Irish government, keen to develop filmmaking in the west of the country. He built studios in Connemara, County Galway. He received a start-up grant from Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht, Michael D. Higgins. ''The Suicide Club'' is a collection of three 19th century detective fiction short stories by Robert Louis Stevenson that combine to form a single narrative. First published in the ''London Magazine ''in 1878, they were collected and republished in the first volume of the ''New Arabian Nights''. The trilogy introduces the characters of Prince Florizel of Bohemia and his sidekick Colonel Geraldine. In this cycle they infiltrate a secret society of people intent on losing their lives. Robert Louis Stevenson (born Robert Lewis Balfour Stevenson; 13 November 1850 – 3 December 1894) was a Scottish novelist, essayist, poet and travel writer.
