The Stupor Salesman
''The Stupor Salesman'' is a Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' cartoon, directed by Arthur Davis, and written by Lloyd Turner and Bill Scott. The cartoon was released on November 20, 1948, and stars Daffy Duck. Mel Blanc performs the voices of Daffy Duck and Slug McSlug, an infamous bank robber. Plot Slug McSlug, a notorious criminal (and anthropomorphic dog) rides a green sedan to the Last National Bank. He gets out of the car, uses a bump key to unlock the door of the bank, and commits a successful robbery. Then radios announced the robbery and Slug McSlug is chased by police. During the chase, He paints his sedan yellow and finally reaches his country hideout. He is promptly visited by an uninvited Daffy Duck, who is a door-to-door salesman of a variety of items. McSlug slams the door in Daffy's face, but Daffy doggedly persists in his efforts to sell ''something'' to McSlug, raising the ire of the wanted criminal. Arthur Davis (animator)
Arthur Davis ( Davidavitch) (June 14, 1905 – May 9, 2000) was an American animator and director known for his time at Warner Brothers' Termite Terrace cartoon studio. Early life Davis was born on June 14, 1905, in Yonkers, New York to Hungarian parents. He is the younger brother of animator Mannie Davis. Career Davis got his start as a teenager at Raoul Barre's Studio in 1918 and later moved to Jefferson Film Corporation when the Mutt and Jeff cartoons began being made there in January 1921 it was claimed that he won a cartoon competition. In 1923 he joined Out Of The Inkwell Films in New York, working as an assistant in 1922 since Dick Huemer proposed him to be an assistant. He is reputed to have been the first in-betweener in the animation industry. Another of his distinctions was that he tapped out the famous " bouncing ball" of the "Follow the Bouncing Ball" cartoons of the 1920s. ''Riff Raffy Daffy'' is a 1948 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Arthur Davis. The cartoon was released on November 27, 1948, and stars Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. Plot A homeless Daffy Duck is trying to find a place to sleep in a City Park. Porky Pig is a patrolling cop, who is telling Daffy that sleeping in the park (''vagrancy'') is against the law. Daffy tries to sleep on a park bench, in a trash can, up a tree, and even in a gopher's hole - evicting the gopher, furniture and all. After being kicked out of the park, Daffy complains that it is "the coldest night in 64 years" and wonders where he is going to sleep, after opening his big beak about the snow suddenly covering the scene. ''Daffy Dilly'' is a 1948 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. The cartoon was released on October 30, 1948, and stars Daffy Duck. "Daffy Dilly" is notable for being an early example of a greedy, self-centered Daffy (with some "screwball" elements), as perfected by Jones. The title is a word play on daffodil.
