''The Story of a Maid'' (German: ''Der Roman eines Dienstmädchens'') is a 1921 Austrian-German silent drama film directed by Reinhold Schünzel and starring Liane Haid, Otto Tressler and Erika Glässner. It premiered at the Marmorhaus in Berlin.Parish p.245 The film's sets were designed by the art directors Karl Machus and Oscar Friedrich Werndorff. It was shot in Vienna. Reinhold Schünzel
Reinhold Schünzel (7 November 1888 – 11 November 1954) was a German actor and director, active in both Germany and the United States. The son of a German father and a Jewish mother, he was born in St. Pauli, the poorest part of Hamburg. Despite being of Jewish ancestry, Schünzel was allowed by the Nazis to continue making films for several years until he eventually left in 1937 to live abroad. Life in Germany Reinhold Schünzel (or Schuenzel) started his career as an actor in 1915 with a role in the film '' Werner Krafft''. He directed his first film in 1918's ''Mary Magdalene'' and in 1920 directed '' The Girl from Acker Street'' and ''Catherine the Great''. He was one of Germany's best-known silent film stars after World War I, a period during which films were significantly influenced by the consequences of the war. Charles Puffy
Charles Puffy (born Károly Hochstadt; 3 November 1884 – 1942 or 1943) was a Hungarian film actor. Biography Hochstadt appeared in more than 130 films between 1914 and 1938. He was the only slapstick star in Hungary's silent film era, appearing under the name "Pufi" (meaning "Fatty" in Hungarian, referring to his weight) and Carlie Puffy in the United States for Universal Studios. His other stage names were Károly Huszár or Pufi Huszár. Besides his work on films, he frequently appeared on stage, mostly in comical roles.
