The Storm Daughter
''The Storm Daughter'' is a lost 1924 American silent drama film directed by George Archainbaud and starring Priscilla Dean. It was produced and distributed by Universal Pictures. Some sources claim Edward J. Le Saint and/or Colin Campbell as a co-director. Plot As described in a film magazine review, a fishing boat in which Kate Masterson is sailing is run down by a schooner commanded by skipper Brute Morgan, a man with a terrible reputation. The young woman is rescued, forced to work, and ill-used by Morgan, who hates all members of her sex. In a mutiny the brutal but valorous skipper battles desperately against big odds, but is overpowered and put in irons. A violent storm breaks out and the captain is released to reassume command. The vessel sinks. Morgan and the young woman reach a desolate island. However, after all of these events, Morgan is a changed man and in love with Kate. She agrees to marry him. George Archainbaud
George Archainbaud (May 7, 1890 – February 20, 1959) was a French-American film and television director. Biography In the beginning of his career he worked on stage as an actor and manager. He came to the United States in January 1914, and started his film career as an assistant director to Emile Chautard at the World Film Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In 1917 he made his own directorial debut '' As Man Made Her''. During the next three and a half decades he directed over one hundred films. After the beginning of the 1950s he moved to television. While working at RKO Radio Pictures in the beginning of the 1930s, he showed some artistic and skillful eye with many of his films. The BFI National Archive is a department of the British Film Institute, and one of the largest film archives in the world. It was founded as the National Film Library in 1935; its first curator was Ernest Lindgren. In 1955, its name became the National Film Archive, and, in 1992, the National Film and Television Archive. George Kuwa
George Kuwa (born Keichii Kuwahara) was a Japanese and American Issei (Japanese immigrant) film actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1916 and 1931. He was the first actor to portray Charlie Chan on-screen in the 1926 film serial ''The House Without a Key''.Hanke (1989), xii. Biography According to contemporaneous reports, Kuwa was born in Hiroshima, Japan. His father was a judge and wanted George to follow suit. Kuwa moved to the U.S. around 1916 or 1917 and began a career in Hollywood. Like many Japanese actors of the era, he often played Chinese characters. He made several films in Japan as well before returning to the U.S.; he died in Los Angeles in 1931 at the age of 46.
