The Statler Brothers Show
''The Statler Brothers Show'' was an American television variety show hosted by country music group The Statler Brothers. The show ran for seven seasons from 1991 to 1998 on The Nashville Network (TNN) as part of the network's Saturday night lineup and became the most popular show on TNN, including being the highest rated show in the network's history. The show's theme music is an instrumental of " The Class of '57," one of the Statlers' biggest hits as performed by the Bill Walker Orchestra, which along with the Statlers' band, provided all the music for the show. Format Each episode of the program opened with a performance by the Statlers of one of their biggest hits, followed by comedy interludes from group member Harold Reid. Other regulars on the show over the course of its run included fellow country artists Rex Allen, Jr., Janie Fricke, Crystal Gayle, and Ronna Reeves, who would also perform their songs on the show. Variety show, also known as variety arts or variety entertainment, is entertainment made up of a variety of acts including musical theatre, musical performances, sketch comedy, magic (illusion), magic, acrobatics, juggling, and ventriloquism. It is normally introduced by a Master of Ceremonies, compère (master of ceremonies) or Television presenter, host. The variety format made its way from the Victorian era stage in Britain and America to radio and then television. Variety shows were a staple of English language television from the late 1940s into the 1980s. While still widespread in some parts of the world, such as in the United Kingdom with the ''Royal Variety Performance'', and South Korea with ''Running Man (South Korean TV series), Running Man'', the proliferation of multichannel television and evolving viewer tastes have affected the popularity of variety shows in the United States. Ronna Reeves
Ronna Renee Reeves (born September 21, 1966 in Big Spring, Texas) is an American country music singer. Between 1990 and 1998, she released five studio albums, including three on Mercury Records; she has also charted five singles on the Hot Country Songs charts. She was also nominated for Top New Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 1992. Her highest-charting single was "The More I Learn (The Less I Understand About Love)", which reached No. 49 in 1992. After leaving Mercury in 1994, Reeves signed to River North Records and released two more albums. The second album she recorded for River North Records, ''Day 14'', was more pop-oriented and she simply went by Ronna. She recorded a duet "There's Love on the Line" with Sammy Kershaw on her album ''The More I Learn'' as well a duet with Peter Cetera, on a cover of ABBA's " SOS", on his album ''One Clear Voice''. RFD-TV is an American pay television channel owned by Rural Media Group, Inc. The channel features programming devoted to rural issues, concerns and interests. The channel's name is a reference to Rural Free Delivery, the name for the United States Postal Service's system of delivering mail directly to rural patrons. Production and uplinking facilities for RFD-TV are located at 49 Music Square West, Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee. RFD-TV's sister radio channel is Rural Radio on Sirius XM. Crystal Gayle
Crystal Gayle (born Brenda Gail Webb; January 9, 1951) is an American country music singer widely known for her 1977 hit "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue". Initially, Gayle's management and record label were the same as that of her oldest sister, Loretta Lynn. Not finding success with the arrangement after several years, and with Lynn's encouragement, Gayle decided to try a different approach. She signed a new record contract and began recording with Nashville producer Allen Reynolds.
