"The Station" is a song by American electronic producer and singer-songwriter Oneohtrix Point Never from his eighth studio album, ''Age Of''. Background and composition "The Station" was created from a demo that Daniel Lopatin wrote in 2016 while on tour with Anohni to assist with her performances of ''Hopelessness (album), Hopelessness''. On one night of the tour, American Contemporary R&B, R&B singer Usher (musician), Usher was present, and he appreciated a two-minute noise music interlude that Lopatin had composed for the tour, saying to him that it was 'what [he] wanted [his] next album to sound like'. Intrigued by his appreciation and specifically his intent of collaborating, Lopatin wrote a demo in a London hotel room titled "dejavu" with a right-hand topline melody for Usher to sing to. Daniel Lopatin (born July 25, 1982), best known as Oneohtrix Point Never or OPN, is an American experimental electronic music producer, composer, singer and songwriter. His music has experimented with tropes from various music genres and eras, sample-based song structures, and elaborate MIDI production. He began releasing synth-based recordings in the mid-2000s and received initial acclaim for the 2009 compilation '' Rifts'', as well as the influential vaporwave release ''Chuck Person's Eccojams Vol. 1'' (2010).
