The State We're In
''For the radio programme see The State We're In (radio program)'' ''The State We're In'' is rock band The Dogs D'Amour's debut studio album, released in 1984. The album was produced in Finland and released on Finnish label Kumibeat Records. It was re-released in 2003, with a mix different from the one released in '84 (Tyla did not like the keyboards the producer overdubbed on the original mix, against the band's will). How Do You Fall In Love Again? was the only song to be issued as a single, and it also gave rise to the band's first promotional video. Three of the tracks would be later recorded for studio releases; "The State I'm In" was re-recorded for '' In the Dynamite Jet Saloon'' (1988), "How Do You Fall In Love Again" was re-recorded for the ''Kids From Kensington'' EP (1988) and then "Heroine" was re-recorded for "Straight??!! ''Straight??!!'' is the fifth studio album by English rock band The Dogs D'Amour. Album was released in 1990 and entered the UK Albums Chart ...

The Dogs D'Amour
The Dogs D'Amour are an English bluesey hard rock band formed in London in 1983. Over the years the band has had various line-ups, the only constant being vocalist Tyla. Their music has been described as a mixture of the Rolling Stones, the Faces and glam punk. Their 1989 release, '' A Graveyard of Empty Bottles'', reached No. 16 on the UK Albums Chart while the single "Satellite Kid" reached No. 26 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1991, the band broke up onstage, before reforming briefly in the early 1990s for the release of their sixth studio album '' More Unchartered Heights of Disgrace''. After this, however, the most famous incarnation of the band ceased to exist. There was another brief reunion in 2000 and an album, but, throughout the 2000s, Tyla has been touring and releasing albums under the band name, which is vastly different from their older material. In December 2012 the 'classic' line-up of Tyla, Jo 'Dog' Almeida, Steve James and Bam agreed to reform to play a seri ...

Lonergan, ''The Classic Rock and Roll Reader: Rock Music from its Beginnings to the mid-1970s'' (Abingdon: Routledge, 1999), p.xi It has its roots in 1940s and 1950s rock and roll, a style that drew directly from the blues and rhythm and blues genres of African-American music and from country music. Rock also drew strongly from a number of other genres such as electric blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical, and other musical styles. For instrumentation, rock has centered on the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with electric bass guitar, drums, and one or more singers. Usually, rock is song-based music with a time signature using a verse–chorus form, ...
