Spooky Movie - The Washington, D.C. International Horror Film Festival (a.k.a. The Spooky Movie Film Festival) is an internationally recognized showcase for independent and underground filmmakers of the horror, science fiction and fantasy genres. Background Started in 2006 the festival is one of the largest annual events for horror film fans in the Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia area. It is the Mid-Atlantic region's premier dedicated genre film festival. Lloyd Kaufman
Stanley Lloyd Kaufman Jr. (born December 30, 1945) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. Alongside producer Michael Herz (producer), Michael Herz, he is the co-founder of Troma Entertainment film studio, and the director of many of their feature films, such as ''The Toxic Avenger (1984 film), The Toxic Avenger'' and ''Tromeo and Juliet''. Many of the strategies employed by him at Troma Entertainment, Troma have been credited with making the film industry significantly more accessible and decentralized. Early life Kaufman was born to a Jewish family in New York City, the son of Ruth (''née'' Fried) and Stanley Lloyd Kaufman Sr., a lawyer. John Dimes
John Dimes is an author, artist, singer, actor and award-winning comedian. He is best known as the horror host Dr. Sarcofiguy, the first (and still only) African-American horror host. In addition to this, Dimes has written several novels, such as the graphic novel ''Tales of Home,'' the surreal thriller ''Coincidissonance'' and the mockumentary guidebook ''The White Corpse Hustle: A Guide for the Fledgeling Vampire'', which has been favorably compared to the writings of Douglas Adams. This is the first of a planned trilogy. Outside of his illustrations for his novels, Dimes' artwork has been showcased in Washington, D.C. galleries. Dimes began performing as a stand-up comedian, working alongside David Chapelle, Patton Oswalt and Wanda Sykes.
