Soulfly
Soulfly is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1997, and later based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. To date the band has released twelve studio albums, one tour EP, twenty-three singles, one video album, and twelve music videos. ''3'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly released in 2002 through Roadrunner Records. ''3'' has sold 195,000 copies as of March 11, 2008. Album information The album artwork features an Om (ॐ), a spiritual icon in Indian religions. The original title for the album was ''Downstroy'', after the opening track of the album. Max Cavalera later stated that he regretted changing the album's title. Songs Both of the first two tracks were the only singles released from the album, "Downstroy" and "Seek 'n' Strike." The song "One" features guest vocals from Ill Nino’s Christian Machado and uses the title as first word of the two word clauses per line: 'One soul / One heart / One man / One truth / One tribe / One life / One God'. Attitude (Sepultura Song)
"Attitude" is a song by Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura. It is the second single from their 1996 album ''Roots''. The song remains a concert staple to this day. A music video was filmed for the single which features the band performing beside a mixed martial arts cage, in which various people (including businessmen and tribesmen) are fighting whilst being filmed. The Gracie family also appear in the video. At the end of the video, the crowd goes crazy and destroys the cage (which is similar to the end of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" music video) and Max Cavalera destroys his guitar. At the very end, the band and the Gracie family are seen taking photos. This video can be found on the VHS ''We Are What We Are'', which was later released on DVD as part of ''Chaos DVD''. "Back to the Primitive" is a heavy metal song by Soulfly, released in 2000. The song, composed by Max Cavalera, is played as the first track of the second Soulfly album, '' Primitive''. Music and lyrics The song features simple downtuned riffs, plus tribal drumming and blabbering; it also plays berimbau to begin the song. Lyrically, this political song is about demoting national government back to local tribal society. Every choruses begin with 'Back to the Primitive', except for the first line of lyric ' ("one, two, three, four" in Portuguese) to begin the song, and verses containing just "primitive" per line. Music video The song begins with a berimbau, but it is not the case for the accompanying music video. "Bleed" is the third single by heavy metal band Soulfly, released in 1998 from the self-titled album ''Soulfly''. Limp Bizkit guest members Fred Durst and DJ Lethal sing this song about pain, lying and madness with lyrics written by Durst and Max Cavalera. ''Refuse/Resist'' is Sepultura's fourth single, released in 1993. The title song, also included as a single off the album ''Chaos A.D.'', is one of the band's best-known songs and remains a concert staple to this day. A music video was filmed for the single which features the band playing live at a festival intercut with footage of rioting and general unrest. This video can be found on the VHS ''Third World Chaos'', which was later released on DVD as part of the ''Chaos'' DVD.
