Les Six
"Les Six" () is a name given to a group of six composers, five of them French and one Swiss, who lived and worked in Montparnasse. The name, inspired by Mily Balakirev's '' The Five'', originates in two 1920 articles by critic Henri Collet in '' Comœdia'', (see Bibliography). Their music is often seen as a neoclassic reaction against both the musical style of Richard Wagner and the impressionist music of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. The members were Georges Auric (1899–1983), Louis Durey (1888–1979), Arthur Honegger (1892–1955), Darius Milhaud (1892–1974), Francis Poulenc (1899–1963), and Germaine Tailleferre (1892–1983). ''SC6'', also known as ''The Six'', was a rebranded hour of the ESPN program ''SportsCenter''. The program aired weekdays at 6:00 p.m. ET and was hosted by former '' His & Hers'' duo Michael Smith and Jemele Hill. The show featured some elements from ''His & Hers'' and, like ''SportsCenter with SVP'', is more freeform than other editions of ''SportsCenter''. ''What? Where? When?'' (russian: Что? Где? Когда?, translit. ''Chto? Gde? Kogda?'') is an intellectual game show well known in Russian-language media and other CIS states since the mid-1970s. Today it is produced for television by TV Igra on the Russian Channel One and also exists as a competitive game played in clubs organized by thWorld Association of Clubs Over 50,000 teams worldwide play the sport version of the game, based on the TV show. ''The Six'' () is a 2021 documentary film directed by Arthur Jones and produced by Luo Tong. The film chronicles the previously untold story of the six Chinese survivors of RMS ''Titanic'', as well as exploring the legacy of Chinese exclusion laws in Canada, the United States, and UK. The film is executive produced by ''Titanic'' director James Cameron. Background There were eight Chinese male passengers traveling in third-class aboard ''Titanic'', all of whom were professional mariners heading to New York to work on a fruit steamer. Six of the men survived the sinking. Four escaped on the same lifeboat as ''Titanic'''s owner J. Bruce Ismay, whilst another was the last person rescued alive from the water. The name of Toronto has a history distinct from that of the city itself. Originally, the term "''Taronto''" referred to a channel of water between Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching on maps as early as 1675 but in time the name passed southward, and was eventually applied to a new fort at the mouth of the Humber River. Fort Toronto was the first European settlement in the area, and lent its name to what became the city of Toronto. John Graves Simcoe identified the area as a strategic location to base a new capital for Upper Canada, believing Newark to be susceptible to American invasion. The Toronto Six is a professional women's ice hockey team based in Toronto playing out of Canlan Ice Sports – York. ''Mutant X'' is a comic book published by Marvel Comics between 1998 and 2001, featuring Havok, a mutant and former member of the X-Men, who is transported into a parallel dimension. It was written by Howard Mackie and inked by Andrew Pepoy, with a series of different pencilers. The "Mutant X" universe (Earth-1298) is a reimagination of the Earth-616 universe. The 6 Lexington Avenue Local and Pelham Bay Park Express are two rapid transit services in the A Division of the New York City Subway. Their route emblems, or "bullets", are colored since they use the IRT Lexington Avenue Line in Manhattan. Local service is denoted by a (6) in a circular bullet, and express service is denoted by a in a diamond-shaped bullet. 6 trains operate local at all times between Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx and Brooklyn Bridge–City Hall in Lower Manhattan. 6IX (stylised as 6iX) is a commercial radio station in Perth, Western Australia, broadcasting a classic hits and oldies format from its studios in Osborne Park. First broadcast in 1933, the station is currently owned and operated as a joint venture by Capital Radio Network and Grant Broadcasters. History 6IX was first opened on 27 November 1933 by Sir John Kirwan, the then-President of the Western Australian Legislative Council. Operated by W.A.
