Mario Soffici
Mario Soffici (14 May 1900 – 10 May 1977) was an Argentine film director, actor and screenwriter of the classic era. Biography A native of Florence, Soffici moved to Argentina in the 1920s and began acting in 1931 and directing in 1935 on the film '' El Alma de Bandoneón'', working with popular actors of the period such as Libertad Lamarque in tango-based musical films. He directed some 40 films between 1935 and 1962, most notably '' Prisioneros de la tierra'' (1939) (often cited as one of the greatest in Argentine cinema), '' El Curandero'' (1955), '' El hombre que debía una muerte'' (1955) and '' Rosaura a las 10'' (1958). He directed and co-wrote with Eduardo Boneo and Francisco Madrid'' La cabalgata del circo,'' where Eva Duarte played a supporting role. He died in Buenos Aires in 1977. Diana Cortesina
Diana Cortesina (Madrid, 1928 - Madrid, 22 May 2011) was a Spanish actress and vedette, who worked extensively in Argentina. She was raised in a family of artists, her father being the actor Roberto Fugazot, a member of the trio "Irusta-Fugazot-Demare". When she was very young, Cortesina emigrated to Argentina fleeing the Spanish Civil War. Her sister was the actress and film director, Helena Cortesina. Carlos Rivas (born, Oscar Weber, February 16, 1925 – June 16, 2003) was an American actor, best remembered as Lun Tha in ''The King and I'' (1956), Dirty Bob in ''True Grit'' (1969), and Hernandez in ''Topaz'' (1969). Early life Rivas was born in El Paso, Texas, to a German father and Mexican mother. English was his first language and he was also known as Oscar von Weber and Karl Weber. Career Carlos Rivas was discovered in a bar in Mexico. He began his career in Mexican and Argentinian westerns, though his Argentinian films were actually filmed in Mexico. His American debut was in ''The King and I'' (1956) opposite Rita Moreno. After this career highlight, he was quickly reduced to supporting roles. Anthonis Mor, also known as Anthonis Mor van Dashorst and Antonio Moro (c. 1517 – 1577), was a Netherlandish portrait painter, much in demand by the courts of Europe. He has also been referred to as Antoon, Anthonius, Anthonis or Mor van Dashorst, and as Antonio Moro, António Mouro, Anthony More, etc., but signed most of his portraits as Anthonis Mor.
