The Silver Bullet
The Silver Bullet was an independent live music venue in Finsbury Park, London, regularly hosting live music and DJ acts until it closed in June 2016. 1930s to 2010 The Silver Bullet pub opened opposite Finsbury Park station in the 1930s and took its name from the Silver Bullet train that used to pass through the station. The pub name was changed to The Gaslight, but it reverted to its original name The Silver Bullet in May 2010 when it was converted into a live music venue. 2010 - Pop Up Live Music Venue The Gaslight was taken over by new owners in February 2010. After closing for refurbishments it re-opened on 27 May 2010 as a Pop-Up Live Music Venue called The Silver Bullet, as the new owners were only granted a one-year lease. Finsbury Park is an area towards the northern edge of Inner London, England, which grew up around an important railway interchange near the convergence of the Boroughs of Islington, Haringey and Hackney. DJ Derek, born Derek Serpell-Morris (18 December 1941 – July 2015) was an English DJ based in Bristol. In a DJ career that spanned over 40 years, he was known for playing a blend of 60s rocksteady, reggae, ska, dancehall and soul. He was reported missing in July 2015 and his remains were found on 10 March 2016. Orbital are an English electronic music duo from Otford, Kent, England, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll. The band's name is taken from Greater London's orbital motorway, the M25, which was central to the early rave scene during the early days of acid house. Additionally, the cover art on three of their albums showcase stylised atomic orbitals. Orbital have been critically and commercially successful, known particularly for their live improvisation during shows. They were initially influenced by early electro and punk rock. Paul Hartnoll (born 19 May 1968) is one of two brothers (the other being Phil Hartnoll) who make up the electronic dance act Orbital. History Hartnoll played in a local band during the mid-1980s, Noddy and the Satellites, featuring clarinetist Duncan Walker. In 1987 Paul and his brother Phil began recording under the name Orbital with keyboards, a drum machine and a 4-track. Donovan "Don" Letts (born 10 January 1956) is a British film director, disc jockey (DJ) and musician. Letts first came to prominence as the videographer for the Clash, directing several of their music videos. In 1984, Letts co-founded the band Big Audio Dynamite with former Clash lead guitarist and co-lead vocalist Mick Jones (The Clash guitarist), Mick Jones, acting as the band's Sampling (music), sampler and videographer before departing the band in 1990. The Herbaliser is an English jazz hip hop group formed by Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba in London, England during the early 1990s. Although currently releasing on their own label and having previously been signed to !K7 Records, they were one of the best-known acts from the Ninja Tune independent record label. They have released 12 albums, including two DJ mixes: one for Ninja Tune's Solid Steel series and the other for Fabric's Live Mix series. Rudimental are a British drum and bass band, signed to Asylum Records, Atlantic Records and Black Butter Records. The band consists of Piers Aggett, Kesi Dryden and Leon "Locksmith" Rolle.
