The Silly Pillows
The Silly Pillows were an American indie pop band formed by Jonathan Caws-Elwitt. They began as a home-recorded duo of Jonathan and his wife Hilary Caws-Elwitt, sharing tapes through the cassette underground. In the 1990s the band evolved into a studio-recorded full lineup, which dissolved in 2000. From 2005 to 2008, Jonathan and Hilary revived their home-recording career as "The Original Silly Pillows." History In the early 1980s, Jonathan had been part of punk/psych/experimental group The Killer Asparagus (in the Boston area) and punk pop band The Degrads (in Rochester, NY, along with his brother Sam Elwitt). Jonathan started recording cassettes at home in 1984, and in 1986 he asked his wife Hilary Caws-Elwitt to join him on vocals, with the duo recording as the Silly Pillows. ''The Village Voice'' is an American news and culture paper, known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. The Tables
The Tables was an underground/DIY pop group formed in Oslo, Norway, in 1987, by Bartleby (vocals, real name Tore Sørensen), Robert Birdeye (bass guitar and drums, real name Steinar Buholm), and Reg Trademark (guitar, real name Ståle Caspersen). The band was connected to an earlier group called The Bottle Collectors. The Tables' original trio recorded their first 7-inch, ''Diary EP'', which was released on the new-founded Voices of Wonder label in 1988. For their first vinyl album, ''Shady Whims & Obstacles'', released on their own Schtooopid Records in 1990, they recruited Sandy Shore (real name Kjersti Gravklev) on Farfisa organ, and Mono (real name Benedikte Sterner) on drums. Matthew Rorison Caws (born August 5, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the alternative rock band Nada Surf. Caws is also a member of the indie rock duo Minor Alps, alongside Juliana Hatfield. Early life Caws was born in New York City, the son of Peter James Caws and Mary Ann Caws. Caws' mother was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. His father was born in Southall, Middlesex. Nada Surf is a New York City-based American alternative rock band formed in the 1990s, consisting of Matthew Caws (guitar, vocals), Ira Elliot (drums), Doug Gillard (guitar, backing vocals), and Daniel Lorca (bass, backing vocals). Greasy Kid Stuff
''Greasy Kid Stuff'' was an American radio show that aired Saturday mornings from 9-10 AM (Pacific Time) on KXRY 91.1 FM and 107.1 FM, and live and archived at XRAY.FM out of Portland, Oregon. It was hosted by Belinda Miller, Hova Najarian, and their daughter Georgia, a/k/a "DJ Georgia" and f/k/a "DJ Waah Waah". The program was known for playing non-traditional and offbeat music from many genres that kids can appreciate, much of it rock 'n' roll that was not originally created with kids in mind. From 1994 to 2006 the show was on WFMU, the New York/New Jersey area freeform station. Based in Portland since 2004, Belinda and Hova continued to produce Greasy Kid Stuff remotely for a couple of years, running the show from their home and sending a live feed to WFMU's Jersey City studios through the phone line.
