The Siege (1950 Film)
''Agustina of Aragon'' (Spanish: ''Agustina de Aragón'') is a 1950 Spanish historical film directed by Juan de Orduña and starring Aurora Bautista.Klossner p.14 It is also known by the alternative title of ''The Siege''. It portrays the Spanish patriot Agustina of Aragon, known for her role at the 1808 Siege of Zaragoza against Napoleon's French forces. The film's sets were designed by Sigfrido Burmann. It was made by CIFESA, Spain's largest studio. Plot French troops led by Napoleon besiege the city of Zaragoza. Agustina de Aragón (Aurora Bautista) is a young woman who, upon learning that her boyfriend has sold out to the enemy, breaks up with him and falls in love with a Baturro guerrilla. In one of the French attacks, a grenade exploded near the position where Agustina was, falling the soldiers defending the position and there was a threat that the enemy troops could enter the city. Juan de Orduña y Fernández-Shaw (27 December 1900 – 3 February 1974) was a Spanish film director, screenwriter and actor. Subservient to the ideological tenets and preferences of Francoism, he was one of the regime's standout directors during the autarchy period. Eduardo Martínez Fajardo (14 August 1924 – 4 July 2019) was a Spanish film actor born in Meis (Pontevedra), Spain. He appeared in 183 films, 75 plays and made 2,000 television appearances between 1947 and 2002. Biography He was born in Meis, Pontevedra on 14 August 1924, and he raised in Haro and Santander, where he studied Bachillerato. He began his career as a voice actor from 1942 to 1946, and in 1947 he made his film debut in ''Héroes del 95'', directed by Raúl Alfonso. In the 1950s he moved to Mexico, and when he came back to Spain he appeared in spaghetti westerns such as ''Gli eroi di Fort Worth'' (1965) by Martin Herbert, and '' Django'' (1966) by Sergio Corbucci. José Bódalo Zúffoli (March 24, 1916 – July 24, 1985) was an Argentine born Spanish film actor. Biography Bódalo was born in Córdoba, Argentina, the son of Rome-born actress Eugenia Zúffoli and Spanish actor and singer José Bódalo, Sr. His birth in Argentina coincided with his family's artistic tour, but he soon moved to Madrid, where he began studying medicine.
