The Shovel Vs. The Howling Bones
''The Shovel vs. the Howling Bones'' is Lincoln Durham's debut studio album, released on January 31, 2012 by Rayburn Publishing. Four of the songs on the album are from his 2010 EP, and the other seven are original compositions. Durham was mentored and produced by singer-songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard, and co-produced by George Reiff. Durham played the majority of the instruments, including a 1929 Gibson HG22 guitar, a bird feeder, a hacksaw, and oil pans. Drums were performed by Rick Richards. Other guest musicians from Austin on the album were Derek O'Brien Jeff Plankenhorn, Bucca Allen, and Idgy Vaughn, plus Lincoln Durham's wife, Alissa. Lincoln Durham
Lincoln Durham is an American alternative rock, southern gothic, revival punk, psycho blues, Americana singer, songwriter and one-man-band musician. History Lincoln Durham was born in Whitney, Texas and grew up in Itasca, Texas. Durham started out playing fiddle when he was four. He competed in fiddle contests in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, and when he was ten, he won the Texas State Youth Fiddle Championship. In high school, Durham switched to electric guitar citing Nirvana as the inspiration for a new direction. After high school he took a break from music, but he returned, switching over to acoustic guitar and picking up a slide guitar style. Durham was mentored by Ray Wylie Hubbard. Country Blues
Country blues (also folk blues, rural blues, backwoods blues, or downhome blues) is one of the earliest forms of blues music. The mainly solo vocal with acoustic fingerstyle guitar accompaniment developed in the rural Southern United States in the early 20th century. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Ray Wylie Hubbard
Ray Wylie Hubbard (born November 13, 1946) is an American singer and songwriter. Early life Hubbard was born in the town of Soper, Oklahoma. His family moved to Oak Cliff in southwest Dallas, Texas, in 1954. He attended W. H. Adamson High School with Michael Martin Murphey. Hubbard graduated in 1965 and enrolled in North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas) as an English major. He spent the summers in Red River, New Mexico, playing folk music in hootenannies with a trio known as Three Faces West. Musical career 1970s During his time in New Mexico, Hubbard wrote "Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother" first made famous by Jerry Jeff Walker's 1973 recording, and covered by a wide variety of other artists since.
