The Shadow Man
"The Shadow Man" is the first segment of the tenth episode from the first season (1985–86) of the television series ''The Twilight Zone''. In this segment, a boy discovers that a murderous shadow person resides under his bed. Plot Danny Hayes is an intellectual child who is afraid of the dark and is the regular target of a bully named Eric. At the insistence of his mother, Danny goes to bed without the lights, television, and radio on for the first time. This allows a mysterious entity to emerge from under his bed, proclaiming "I am the Shadow Man, and I will never harm the person under whose bed I live." The Shadow Man leaves the house. The next day, Danny tells his friend Peter about the Shadow Man but Peter dismisses it due to Danny's record of imagining horrifying things. The Twilight Zone (1985 TV Series)
''The Twilight Zone'' is an anthology television series which was constructed from September 27, 1985 to April 15, 1989. It is the first of three revivals of Rod Serling's acclaimed 1959–64 television series, and like the original it featured a variety of speculative fiction, commonly containing characters from a seemingly normal world stumbling into paranormal circumstances. Unlike the original, however, most episodes contained multiple self-contained stories instead of just one. The voice-over narrations were still present, but were not a regular feature as they were in the original series; some episodes had only an opening narration, some had only a closing narration, and some had no narration at all. The multi-segment format liberated the series from the usual time constraints of episodic television, allowing stories ranging in length from 8-minutes to 40-minute mini-movies. ''Explorers'' is a 1985 American science fantasy film written by Eric Luke and directed by Joe Dante. The film stars Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix, both in their film debuts, and Jason Presson as teenage boys who build a spacecraft to explore outer space. A shadow person (also known as a shadow figure or black mass) is the perception of a patch of shadow as a living, humanoid figure, and interpreted as the presence of a spirit or other entity by believers in the paranormal or supernatural.
