''The Secret of the Selenites'' (french: Le secret des sélénites) is a 1984 French animated comedy film directed by Jean Image, his last film before he died 5 years later. It is also known as ''Moon Madness'' in the United States and ''Moontrek'' in the United Kingdom. The film is loosely based on the novel '' Baron Munchausen's Narrative of his Marvellous Travels and Campaigns in Russia'' (1785) by Rudolf Erich Raspe. Baron Munchausen, the titular protagonist, is a fictional German nobleman. Raspe based the character on a real-life Freiherr (Baron), Hieronymus Karl Friedrich, Freiherr von Münchhausen (1720–1797). The fictional Baron of the novel is a retired soldier and world traveler, who narrates tall tales about his past. In one of his best-known stories, the Baron travels to the Moon. Jean Image
Imre Hajdú (; 26 January 1911 – 21 October 1989) better known by his stage name Jean Image () was a Hungarian-French director, script writer and producer of French animation films. His stage name, "Image" is based upon the French pronunciation of "Im-Haj", the first syllables of his name. In 1959, he participated in the creation of Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Jean Image was also the author of a book on animation titled "Le Dessin animé : initiation à la technique" (1979). Career He emigrated to France in 1932 where he worked on films and eventually produced several shorts on his own. After the war, influenced by the classic style of Walt Disney's films, he became the first French producer of the full-length animated film (''Johnny the Giant Killer''). Jousting is a martial game or hastilude between two horse riders wielding lances with blunted tips, often as part of a tournament (medieval), tournament. The primary aim was to replicate a clash of heavy cavalry, with each participant trying to strike the opponent while riding towards him at high speed, breaking the lance on the opponent's shield or jousting armour if possible, or unhorsing him. The joust became an iconic characteristic of the knight (stock character), knight in Romantic medievalism. Michael Marshall (September 13, 1944 – June 2, 2005) was a French American actor. Early life and career Marshall was born in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a hospital in Hollywood on September 13, 1944. When his parents divorced, his father made sure that he received an American education. He began studying law, but dreamed of becoming an actor. He later joined his mother in Paris. Marshall began to take drama classes from Raymond Griard and later directed his first film, ''Potato'', in France under the direction of Robert Thomas, adapted from the play's eponymous Marcel Achard. He had already appeared in two films from overseas, the first was directed by his father, and the second by Vincente Minnelli.
