The Secret History (band)
The Secret History was a New York-based indie pop/art rock group, formed in 2006 by songwriter Michael Grace Jr. and four other members from his previous group My Favorite (bassist Gilbert Abad, drummer Todd Karasik, guitarist Darren Amadio and keyboardist Kurt Brondo), alongside vocalist Lisa Ronson (daughter of Mick Ronson). History The Secret History's first release was the ''Desolation Town'' EP in 2008, on the indie label Le Grand Magistery. The band's debut album, 2010's ''The World That Never Was'' (Le Grand Magistery), was a critical success, landing on best-of lists from AllMusic, ''Spectrum Culture'' and public radio station KEXP (in addition to cracking the College Music Journal, CMJ Top 200 for college radio airplay overall.) Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, Independent record label, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart were an American indie pop band from New York City, formed in 2007. The band centered around founding member and principal songwriter Kip Berman (vocals, guitar). In the band's final iteration, Berman was joined in concert by Christoph Hochheim (guitar), A Sunny Day in Glasgow, Jen Goma (keyboards, vocals), Jacob Sloan (bass), and Anton Hochheim (drums). Former members and contributors include Peggy Wang (keyboards, vocals), The Drums, Connor Hanwick, Kurt Feldman and Alex Naidus. History Formation and early years (2007–2012) Kip Berman, lead singer, guitarist, and principal songwriter, grew up in Philadelphia, but moved to Portland, Oregon, where he lived for several years. CMJ Holdings Corp. is a music events and online media company, originally founded in 1978, which ran a website, hosted an annual festival in New York City, and published two magazines, ''CMJ New Music Monthly'' and ''CMJ New Music Report''. Mick Ronson
Michael Ronson (26 May 1946 – 29 April 1993) was an English musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer. He achieved critical and commercial success working with David Bowie as the guitarist of the Spiders from Mars. He was a session musician who recorded five studio albums with Bowie followed by four with Ian Hunter, and also worked as a sideman in touring bands with Van Morrison and Bob Dylan. Ronson and Bowie also produced Lou Reed's ''Transformer'' with Ronson playing lead guitar and piano and writing string arrangements, which brought mainstream recognition. My Favorite are an indie pop band formed in Long Island, New York in 1991, later of Brooklyn and Queens. After releasing two full-length albums, the original band split in 2005, but reformed in 2014.
