Hong Kong Second Wave
The Hong Kong New Wave is a film movement in Chinese-language Hong Kong cinema that emerged in the late 1970s and lasted into the early 2000s. Origins of the movement The Hong Kong New Wave started in 1979 with the release of numerous notable films. During the 1980s, the Hong Kong film industry began to flourish. Film emerged as the most popular form of entertainment in Hong Kong, in part due to the fact that many Chinese households did not have a TV at the time. Many of the New Wave directors had a Western-style education and were influenced by western filmmaking and culture. The films of the Hong Kong New Wave were not stylistically homogenous, rather the term was used to mark the distinction of a new generation of filmmakers. The second season of the American drama television series '' 24'', also known as Day 2, was first broadcast from October 29, 2002, to May 20, 2003, on Fox. The season begins and ends at 8:00 a.m. The season premiere originally aired without commercial interruption, and has an extended running time of approximately 51 minutes, as opposed to the standard 43 minutes. Second Wave Ska
Two-tone or 2 tone is a genre of British popular music of the late 1970s and early 1980s that fused traditional Jamaican ska music with elements of punk rock and new wave music. Its name derives from 2 Tone Records, a record label founded in 1979 by Jerry Dammers of The Specials, and references a desire to transcend and defuse racial tensions in Thatcher-era Britain: many two-tone groups, such as The Specials, The Selecter, and The Beat, featured a mix of Black, white, and multiracial people. Originating in the Midlands city Coventry in England in the late 1970s, it was part of the second wave of ska music, following on from the first ska music that developed in Jamaica in the 1950s and 1960s, and infused with punk and new wave textures. 2nd Wave (album)
''2nd Wave'' is the second studio album by Surface, released in October 1988 on Columbia Records. A total of five singles were released from the album: "I Missed" completely missed the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 while climbing to number 3 on the US R&B charts. "Closer Than Friends" made the pop charts at number 57, while becoming the first of a quartet of R&B number ones for the group (with " Shower Me with Your Love", "You Are My Everything" and " The First Time" being the other three). Of all the songs on the album, "Shower Me with Your Love" enjoyed the most success, crossing over and reaching number 5 on the pop charts. The single "Can We Spend Some Time" reached number 5 on the R&B charts but was not a pop success. Based on the chart (both pop and R&B) success of the singles, the album peaked at number 56 but was certified platinum (albeit six years later, in 1994).
