Big Sugar (band)
Big Sugar is a band formed in Toronto in 1988 by Gordie Johnson, the band's lead singer, lead guitarist and main songwriter. Between 1996 and 2016, Big Sugar was among the top 80 best-selling Canadian artists in Canada and among the top 25 best-selling Canadian bands in Canada. History Big Sugar originally consisted of Johnson, bassist Terry Wilkins, and drummer Al Cross, though the three musicians had already played together for several years as a supporting band for Molly Johnson's jazz performances, and as an informal jam band with members of the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir. When Johnson returned to rock music with Infidels (band), Infidels, he helped his former bandmates secure a record deal; the Big Sugar (album), eponymous debut album was released in 1991 on Hypnotic Records. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. ''RPM'' stood for "Records, Promotion, Music". The magazine's title varied over the years, including ''RPM Weekly'' and ''RPM Magazine''. Canadian music charts ''RPM'' maintained several format charts, including Top Singles (all genres), Adult Contemporary, Dance, Urban, Rock/Alternative and Country Tracks (or Top Country Tracks) for country music. Hamilton is a port city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Hamilton has a population of 569,353, and its census metropolitan area, which includes Burlington and Grimsby, has a population of 785,184. The city is approximately southwest of Toronto in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). Conceived by George Hamilton when he purchased the Durand farm shortly after the War of 1812, the town of Hamilton became the centre of a densely populated and industrialized region at the west end of Lake Ontario known as the Golden Horseshoe. Burlington Street
Burlington Street is a partially at grade and elevated roadway in Hamilton, Ontario, stretching along the south shore of Hamilton Harbour in Lake Ontario. Burlington Street has four different statuses along the route. In its western terminus, it is a collector route ending at Bay Street North. Upon the intersection at Wellington Street, the road becomes an arterial route with four lanes. The Street ends at Parkdale Avenue. On October 14, 2015, city council approved the renaming of the upper portion of Burlington Street from 165 meters east of Ottawa St to the QEW to Nikola Tesla Boulevard. Nikola Tesla Boulevard is the official exit #90 from QEW. The signage along the QEW for Burlington Street was eventually replaced between October 22-23, 2016 to reflect the name change. Andrew Neil MacNaughtan (25 February 196425 January 2012) was a Canadian photographer and music video director. Work MacNaughtan won four Juno Awards for his work as a photographer, director and album art designer, including three wins for CD/DVD Artwork Design of the Year in 1995 for Our Lady Peace's album '' Naveed'', in 1998 for Tom Cochrane's '' Songs of a Circling Spirit'' and in 2004 for Jann Arden's '' Love Is the Only Soldier'', and one win for Music DVD of the Year for Rush's ''Rush in Rio'' in 2004. Artists for whom MacNaughtan directed music videos included Rush, Great Big Sea, The Gandharvas, Aaron Carter, Michael Bublé and SHeDAISY. He also launched ArtGivesHope, a charity to help families in Africa affected by HIV/AIDS, in the early 2010s.
