The Scavengers (1969 Film)
''The Scavengers'' (1969) is a western war drama and exploitation film released in 1969, and re-released as ''The Grabbers'' in 1970. It was directed by Lee Frost and starred John Bliss. Uschi Digard also participated. The film takes place in the period just after the American Civil War. Renegade Confederate soldiers take over a frontier town, but after they molest a young black woman, a group of ex-slaves arm themselves and counter-attack. An exploitation film is a film that tries to succeed financially by exploiting current trends, niche genres, or lurid content. Exploitation films are generally low-quality "B movies", though some set trends, attract critical attention, become historically important, and even gain a cult following. Lee Frost was a film director, producer, cinematographer, editor and occasional actor. He directed a string of exploitation movies including ''Love Camp 7'', ''Chain Gang Women'', ''Chrome and Hot Leather'', ''The Thing with Two Heads'', ''The Black Gestapo'', ''Dixie Dynamite'' and '' Private Obsession''. Background Frost was born in Globe, Arizona, on August 14, 1935. He grew up in Glendale, California, and also in Oahu, Hawaii. The different names he used for his work were R.L. Frost, R. Lee Frost and David Kayne. Other names or variants used were David Kane, F.C. Perl, Elov Peterssons and Les Emerson. Carl Borch, Leoni Valentino and Robert L. Frost are more names. John Bliss
John Bliss (October 8, 1930 – February 28, 2008) was an American actor known for playing the role of the 8th grade Social Studies teacher and former Principal Irving Pal on ''Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide''. He was also seen in the first episode of ''Out of Jimmy's Head''. Plot Two American Women's Army Corps officers volunteer to enter a Nazi concentration camp undercover to gain information from, and possibly rescue, Martha Grossman, a Jewish scientist. The female inmates serve as sex slaves for German officers and are subjected to humiliating treatment, torture and rape. When the two female agents learn that their target is being held in solitary detention, one of them arranges to be punished so that she can make contact. This leads to Lt.
