The Scarlet Tulip EP
''The Scarlet Tulip EP'' is a 2011 EP studio release from KT Tunstall, recorded in her home studio in April 2011. The album was recorded and produced by Tunstall, co-produced by Luke Bullen and mastered by Jeremy Cooper. Background Tunstall wrote all of the songs on the EP, notably recording each in a single take in her solar-powered studio in the Berkshire countryside. The EP project was borne out of Tunstall's desire to record some songs she had written during the recording of ''Tiger Suit'' and which were not included on the final album. "The Hidden Heart" was written for the naturalist Bruce Parry's Survival project, "to try and gain land protection for indigenous people of the Amazon," she said. All songs are played on acoustic guitar except for "Shanty of the Whale", which Tunstall performed a cappella. KT Tunstall
Kate Victoria "KT" Tunstall (born 23 June 1975) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician. She first gained attention with a 2004 live solo performance of her song " Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" on '' Later... with Jools Holland''. The name of her debut studio album, ''Eye to the Telescope,'' was inspired by her childhood experiences at her father's physics laboratory at University of St Andrews. Acoustic Music
Acoustic music is music that solely or primarily uses instruments that produce sound through acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. Luke Bullen
Luke Bullen (born 9 February 1973 in Norwich, England) is an English drummer and percussionist. Bullen studied at London drum school Drumtech and joined the band Addict in 1995; the band was signed to V2 Records in 1996. Bullen left Addict in 2000 and formed Zanderman with Addict's lead singer Mark Aston. It was released by Relentless Records in Ireland on 24 September 2010, in the United Kingdom on 27 September 2010 and in the United States and Canada on 5 October 2010. Bruce Parry (born 17 March 1969) is an English documentarian, indigenous rights advocate, author, explorer, trek leader and former Royal Marines commando officer. He employs an ethnographic style and a form of participant observation for his documentaries. Background The album was released in support of Survival International, the human rights organisation for tribal peoples. The themes of the album are life around the Amazon River and other remote tribal areas. These topics are covered in the Bruce Parry television series ''Tribe'' and ''Amazon''. All of the music on the album is exclusive and was written for the project. Many of the songs on the record contain samples recorded by Bruce Parry whilst living with tribal communities.
