The Saturnine
The Saturnine is a melodic melancholic rock band, originally formed in the Netherlands, but currently featuring musicians from the Netherlands, Germany and New York City. History The Saturnine was formed in 2003 by drummer Dennis Leeflang ( Bumblefoot, Sun Caged, Within Temptation), guitarist/songwriter Eric HazebroekDaeonia Trisomy, Manifest, Stream of Passion) and bassist Douwe de WildeDaeonia. Leeflang brought in guitarist Edo van der Kolk (Kingfisher Sky) and vocalist Sander van den Thillart (WowbeggarFootfalls. Leeflang and Van den Thillart had a long history of collaborating in various cover/tribute bands since 1993. The Saturnine recorded an EP, entitled "Within Without", in 2004, which received positive reviews in the music press. The band performed around the mid-west of The Netherlands throughout 2004. Stream of Passion is a Dutch progressive metal band with symphonic and gothic influences founded by guitarist and composer Arjen Anthony Lucassen and Mexican singer, violinist, and lyricist Marcela Bovio. They have released four studio albums. In 2007, Lucassen left the band to continue on his own as he had originally planned, together with his girlfriend guitarist Lori Linstruth, and keyboardist Alejandro Millán; Bovio, her boyfriend (later husband) and bassist Johan van Stratum and producer Joost van den Broek handling the composition duties afterwards. Ivar de Graaf (born 20 August 1973) is the founder and drummer of the Dutch progressive metal band Kingfisher Sky, but best known as the former drummer of the popular Dutch metal band Within Temptation. Early career Ivar de Graaf was born in Amsterdam, and began playing drums at the age of 11. De Graaf followed education at the Haags Montessori Lyceum in The Hague, and was taught to play drums by Charles Schouten who has been the drummer for Kayak for a short period of time. On the HML he frequently performed with Edo van der Kolk and Michiel Parqui around 1990.
