Knesset
The Knesset ( he, הַכְּנֶסֶת ; "gathering" or "assembly") is the unicameral legislature of Israel. As the supreme state body, the Knesset is sovereign and thus has complete control of the entirety of the Israeli government (with the exception of checks and balances from the courts and local governments). Elhanan Glazer ( he, אלחנן גלזר; born 13 August 1947) is an Israeli politician. He served as a member of the Knesset for Gil, Justice for the Elderly and The Right Way between 2006 and 2009. Biography Born in Rehovot during the Mandate era, Glazer today lives in Rishon LeZion, and is widowed with three children. For the 2006 Knesset elections he was placed sixth on the Gil list, and became a Knesset member when the party won seven seats. On 2 June 2008 he was one of three MKs to leave Gil and form the Justice for the Elderly faction. Tzomet ( he, צוֹמֶת, lit., ''Crossroads'') is a small, right-wing political party in Israel. History The party was founded by General Rafael Eitan in 1983, after his retirement from the position of chief-of-staff in 1982. He headed it throughout its existence, and modeled it in his spirit as a secular, right-wing party with a strong agricultural side. Many of Tzomet's members and MKs were neighbors of Eitan in Tel Adashim (a small moshav). Tzomet ran for the 1984 elections in a joint list with the Tehiya party, and Eitan was its only member of the Knesset. Tzomet and the Tehiya parted way in 1987, and Tzomet ran independently in the 1988 elections, winning two seats.
