The Rendezvous (1923 Film)
''The Rendezvous'' is a 1923 American silent adventure melodrama film with comedic overtones directed by Marshall Neilan and starring Richard Travers, Conrad Nagel, Lucille Ricksen, and Syd Chaplin. It was produced and distributed by Goldwyn Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine review, in the Russian Empire, Prince Sergei and his wife Varvara are exiled to Siberia by the Tsar Nicholas II. Varvara dies giving birth to a daughter, Vera, who is left in a friend's care by the father. 18 years later, Cossacks raid the country. Walter Stanford, an officer in the American Expeditionary Force, Siberia, rescues Vera from a Cossack raid at a shrine, but she is forced to wed a Cossack chief. After the chief is killed, Vera and Stanford are united and they marry. Cast Production The film was shot in San Francisco and Los Angeles using real-life U.S. Army soldiers as extras. Marshall Neilan
Marshall Ambrose "Mickey" Neilan (April 11, 1891 – October 27, 1958) was an American actor. Early life Born in San Bernardino, California, Neilan was known by most as "Mickey." Following the death of his father, the eleven-year-old Mickey Neilan had to give up on school to work at whatever he could find in order to help support his mother. As a teenager, he began acting in bit parts in live theatre, and in 1910 he got a job as chauffeur, driving Biograph Studios executives around Los Angeles to determine the suitability of the West Coast as a place for a permanent studio. Career Neilan made his film debut as part of the acting cast on the American Film Manufacturing Company Western ''The Stranger at Coyote'' (1912). Hired by Kalem Studios for their Western film production facility in Santa Monica, Neilan was first cast opposite Ruth Roland. Emmett Corrigan
Emmett Corrigan (born Antoine Zilles; June 5, 1867 – October 29, 1932) was a Dutch-born American stage and screen actor. Various sources give his birth year as 1867, 1868 and 1871. Corrigon was born as Antoine Zilles in Amsterdam, Holland, and his career extended from the silent era to the early sound years. He originally studied for the priesthood and also debuted on stage at Baltimore at age fourteen. He later attended Ilchester College. Eugenie Besserer ( – May 29, 1934) was an American actress who starred in silent films and features of the early sound motion-picture era, beginning in 1910. Her most prominent role is that of the title character's mother in the first talkie film, ''The Jazz Singer''. With a career spanning over thirty years, Davidson appeared in over 180 films.
