The Priseman Seabrook Collection
The Priseman Seabrook Collection is a British-based private collection founded by the artist Robert Priseman and his wife Ally Seabrook. It is composed of three distinct categories: 21st Century British Painting, 20th and 21st Century British Works on Paper and Contemporary Chinese Works on Paper, and is a collection partner of Art UK. The Priseman Seabrook Collection of 21st Century British Painting is the only art collection in the United Kingdom dedicated to painting produced in Britain after the year 2000 and was exhibited publicly for the first time in 2014 at the Huddersfield Art Gallery while works from the other two elements of the collection were first displayed at the Minories Art Gallery in Colchester during 2016. Robert Priseman
Robert Priseman (born in Spondon, Derbyshire in 1965) is a British artist, collector, writer, curator and publisher who lives and works in Essex, England. Over 200 works of art by Priseman are held in art museum collections around the world including the V&A, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Musée de Louvain la Neuve, The Royal Collection at Windsor Castle, The Allen Memorial Art Museum, The Mead Art Museum, Honolulu Museum of Art and The National Galleries of Scotland. Priseman read Aesthetics and Art Theory at the University of Essex under art theorist Professor Michael Podro and began his working life as a book designer for Longman publishers (1989-1992). Iain Andrews
Iain Andrews (born 1974) is an contemporary English painter. He lives and works in Manchester, England. He received a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (BA Hons) in Fine Art and a Master of Arts (MA) in Painting from University College of Wales, Aberystwyth (now Aberystwyth University) and was awarded a Post-graduate Diploma (PGDip) in Art Psychotherapy from University of Sheffield. Susan Gunn
Susan Gunn is a British artist. She was born in present-day Greater Manchester, England in 1965, and studied at Norwich University of the Arts where she was awarded a First Class BA Honours in Fine Art Painting in 2004. In 2006 she was awarded the inaugural Sovereign European Art Prize. In 2014 she was commissioned to create a twenty-metre painting for the £11.6 million low carbon building project 'The Enterprise Centre' at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. She is a member of Contemporary British Painting. Gunn's artworks are made using traditional binders imbued with beeswax and linseed, natural earth pigments and layers of traditionally made gesso. Lucian Freud
Lucian Michael Freud (; 8 December 1922 – 20 July 2011) was a British painter and draughtsman, specialising in figurative art, and is known as one of the foremost 20th-century English portraitists. He was born in Berlin, the son of Jewish architect Ernst L. Freud and the grandson of Sigmund Freud. Freud got his first name "Lucian" from his mother in memory of the ancient writer Lucian of Samosata. His family moved to England in 1933, when he was 10 years old, to escape the rise of Nazism. He became a British naturalized citizen in 1939. From 1942 to 1943 he attended Goldsmiths College, London. He served at sea with the British Merchant Navy during the Second World War. Nathan Eastwood
Nathan Eastwood was born in Barrow-in-Furness, England in 1972. He graduated from Byam Shaw School of Art in 2009. Eastwood was a finalist in the 2007 'Celeste Art Prize' and won the inaugural 'East London Painting Prize' in 2014. He paints everyday domestic and urban scenes of people he records on his mobile phone. Eastwood works in monochrome by applying enamel paint to board in thin layers. Alan Davie
James Alan Davie (28 September 1920 – 5 April 2014) was a Scottish painter and musician. Biography Davie was born in Grangemouth, Scotland in 1920, the son of Elizabeth (née Turnbull) and James William Davie, an art teacher and painter who exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1925. Alan Davie studied at Edinburgh College of Art from 1937 to 1941. An early exhibition of his work came through the Society of Scottish Artists. After the Second World War, Davie played tenor saxophone in the Tommy Sampson Orchestra, which was based in Edinburgh and broadcast and toured in Europe. He also earned a living making jewellery during the postwar period. Davie travelled widely and in Venice became influenced by other painters of the period, such as Paul Klee, Jackson Pollock and Joan Miró, as well as by a wide range of cultural symbols. Pen Dalton
Penelope Dalton is an artist, critic and writer. Education Dalton trained at Goldsmiths, University of London and Brighton University and gained a PhD in Creative studies from Plymouth University in 2008. Career Dalton taught studio practice and critical theory at Dartington College of Arts and Birmingham City University. Dalton spent many years as an academic researcher in socially contextualised practice in printmaking and art education, drawing on feminist and linguistic theory. Simon Carter (born 1961 in Chelmsford, Essex) is an English artist and curator. He studied at Colchester Institute (1980–81) and then North East London Polytechnic (1981–84). Simon Burton (artist)
Simon Burton was born in Yorkshire, England in 1973 and received a first class bachelor's degree at the University of Brighton in 1995, before completing his MA in 1997 at the Royal College of Art.
